A wonderful two evenings featuring and , who performed at .sydney and The Concourse Chatswood over the weekend.

Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Joey Alexander has been captivating audiences worldwide since bursting onto the international jazz scene as a teenager. Born in Bali, Indonesia, he has released seven acclaimed albums, earned three Grammy Award nominations and performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall and the Grammy Awards to the White House. Now, at just 22, Alexander stands as one of contemporary jazz’s most exciting and distinctive voices.

“Joey Alexander is not someone or something you can even explain. We’ve never had anyone like him in this music. I wasn’t anywhere near his sophistication at his age, nor has anyone I know ever been.” - Wynton Marsalis

Joey performed alongside Zodiac, who are emerging from Sydney’s vibrant jazz scene, as an instrumental four-piece who create richly expressive music shaped by their shared Asian-Australian heritage. Blending jazz with diverse influences spanning gospel, rock, film scores and improvised music, their playful and deeply sentimental sound has earned them recognition as one of Australia’s most exciting young ensembles. Following their acclaimed albums The Wild Wild East and From, Zodiac bring their distinctive cinematic sound and adventurous musicianship to the stage.
