I wanted to post something funny today, but I just can’t bring myself to even pretend to be happy. Life comes at you fast sometimes, and when things end unexpectedly, you’re left trying to make sense of what comes next. Although I’m hurting a lot right now, I want to reassure everyone that both businesses will continue to operate as usual, and ask that you understand if I’m not my usual self as I navigate what my future looks like now that Off Campus has ended. The hardest part is knowing Garrett Graham isn’t here to tell me it’s all going to be okay. 💔

Small business owners navigating some of the toughest trading conditions in years, juggling cost of living pressures, rising electricity bills, supplier increases, tax hikes, interest rate rises, fuel prices, rising wage costs, banks finding even more ways to charge people for using their own money, and corporations somehow still posting record profits while telling us all the economy is “challenging.”

Dear Wynnum, I’d like to invite you to celebrate Oliver Foran and his incredible achievement. After cycling, trekking and climbing his way from sea level in India to the summit of Mount Everest, Oliver has officially broken the Sea-to-Summit WORLD RECORD, reaching the top of the world in just 50 days, pushing through some of the harshest physical and mental conditions on earth, to raise money and awareness for youth mental health- and made history doing it! Please join us from 3pm Sunday afternoon, June 7th, as we celebrate an extraordinary achievement, hear the stories from the mountain, and welcome home a local legend who just put Wynnum on the world stage. Wear your beanie!

Happy-ish Friday, everyone. So I asked ChatGPT to show me what it thinks I look like, and I'm really not sure what to make of this because I genuinely thought we had something special going on. But surprise, surprise! Turns out he’s just like all the others: disappointing, and not even a real man!

‼️ The Bureau of Maliology (BoM) has issued a severe Barjamas warning for this afternoon, with forecasts of “where did this rain come from?” followed shortly by scattered yawns, K-mart nighties and Joe’s face when BoM makes him pose for this s**t. Conditions are expected to worsen into the evening as chances of “How was that a send off?” increase, as dismal blue conditions still hang heavily over maroon skies. Looking further ahead, brief glimpses of “Business as normal” are expected over the weekend, despite absolutely nothing feeling near normal since 2016. Quite frankly, BoM had hoped today would be cancelled so everyone could f**k off back to sleep, but no one was able to locate the real Mayor to make the call.

Anyone know who the actual Mayor around here is so they can hurry up and cancel today?

10 reasons Mali thinks you should buy “Extraordinary Stories” by Katherine Owens - Author for your teenagers:

1. Because social media is numbing our kids. Literally.
2. There are 17 different real-life *short* stories they’ll likely read and relate to.
3. The stories are true, honest, meaningful without sounding like a teacher or parent lecture.
4. Teenagers need real stories like these, to make them feel understood.
5. It’s written in a way teenagers might actually absorb and reminds them it’s okay to not be okay.
6. Some stories might help them feel less alone.
7. It’s the kind of book that quietly opens conversations families normally avoid.
8. It’s written by a local Wynnum parent and stocked in local independent bookshops.
9. Because sometimes the right words can give life meaning.
10. Worst case scenario? Your teenager ignores it, you read it instead, and it’ll reminded you that, young or old, we’re all just out here trying to make sense of life too.

According to the Department of Malistics (Mali’s Statistics), research shows that purchasing your State of Origin drinks from a small, independent bottle shop, dramatically increases your team’s chances of winning by 79%. Even if she completely made those statistics up, purchasing from littlecedarstore today, despite the absolute s**t tonne of rain expected, will further increase your team’s chances of winning. Malistics can also confirm, giant corporations won’t miss your purchase because they’ve already made another $14 billion while you were reading this.

Listen, I’m not crying because I don’t have a boyfriend to watch Game One with tomorrow night. I’m crying because my future boyfriend went to watch it on the big screen at the Waterloo with “the boys” without leaving me a cute note, texting me at half time, or bringing me home a kebab after the game. So yeah, I’m crying because relationships are hard. But please don’t worry, I’ll be okay. I really just want my future boyfriend to see how deeply committed I would be to him, even though he’s obviously fckn’ crazy cheering for NSW.
