Fleurieu Folk Festival

Fleurieu Folk Festival Fleurieu Folk Festival is South Australia's premier folk music festival held in picturesque Willunga at Recreation Park
(2)

The Fleurieu Folk Festival is a multiple-award winning festival that presents a weekend of music concerts and sessions, dance, workshops, open mic concerts, folk jams, children’s entertainment, stalls, and more. The Fleurieu Folk Festival is South Australia’s largest folk music festival. Set in the picturesque town of Willunga on the Fleurieu Peninsula, every October, we transform Willunga’s Recre

ation Park into a global musical village. That village includes several covered venues, multicultural food and craft stalls, a festival bar, on-site camping and facilities, a dance stage, a children’s festival, and music enthusiasts playing together in every niche and corner. Each year, the Festival carefully chooses the best local, interstate and international folk musicians, covering a broad range of genres including traditional, acoustic, Celtic, blues, roots, bluegrass and Americana. The Fleurieu Folk Festival provides a wide range of activities for children, including a song and dance activities, children’s entertainment, and all kinds of shows that will appeal to the whole family! The Festival is managed completely on a volunteer basis, by a dedicated organising committee of 12, subcommittees and a hard-working brigade of over 140 volunteers. The Festival’s continuing aim is to support live performance, folk music, dance and poetry; nurture youth to be involved in all aspects of the Festival and encourage indigenous, multicultural performance and expression. Fleurieu Folk Festival recognises and pays respect to the 𝗞𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, who are the traditional owners of Willunga. We recognise their connection to land, waters and community and pay our respects to them, their cultures, and their Elders, past and present. The Willunga Basin is named after the Kaurna place name, Willangga, which is a traditional Kaurna cultural landscape rich with the history of the Kaurna Meyunna, the Kaurna People.

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲: 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗲 (𝗤𝗟𝗗)
There is a certain kind of wisdom that can only be found on long roads. The kind gathered on dusty boots, desert sunsets, roadside conversations and quiet moments beneath starry skies. It is this wisdom that sits at the heart of Katie Milae's music. Her songs do not arrive polished and pristine; they arrive weathered by experience and softened by reflection. They are songs for the wanderers, seekers and old souls; it’s music that understands both heartbreak and hope, and the winding path of where life takes us.
