Melbourne Cup’s on the way – time to lock in that winning look! 💐👗

It’s the perfect excuse to shop local, whether you're hunting down a statement hat, a sharp suit or just a little extra sparkle for the occasion.

Then make your way to the Eyre on Tuesday 3 November for a Cup Day full of good food, racing action and a bit of friendly competition!

Here's what's happening:

• Melbourne Cup Day à la carte menu from 12pm–2pm
• A glass of bubbles on arrival for pre-booked restaurant guests
• Sweeps + best-dressed prizes
• Drink specials throughout the day
• Live racing action across the hotel
• TAB facilities open in the Saloon Bar from 9am

Our B**r Garden is another great spot to settle in, or pull up a stool in the Saloon Bar for a more casual Cup Day.

A little Rust, a whole lot of Rhythm! 🎶

We're pretty excited about this one! So listen up.... A brand-new local acoustic trio, Rust & Rhythm, are making their way to the Eyre this Friday 30 October, live and FREE from 8pm.

New to the local Whyalla music scene in 2026, but certainly no strangers to performing!

Bringing together decades of musical experience, Phil Wyatt (Tight Squeeze), Tammy Paterson (Young Country) and Jude Lawrie (Blush) have joined forces to create something a little different.

Think acoustic guitar, rich vocals, harmonies and percussion, with everything from country classics and rock favourites to modern hits given their own acoustic twist.

And before the music kicks off, there's all our usual Friday business...

🎃 FRIGHT NIGHT IS THIS SATURDAY, WHYALLA!

Halloween is always a big night at the Eyre, and if there's one thing we know, it's that our team and Whyalla's little monsters don't do things by halves when it comes to dressing up. WE LOVE IT!

Just look at some of the frightfully fabulous costumes from previous years! 👻

Our annual Family Halloween Party returns this Saturday 31 October, so round up the little ghouls and goblins, dust off those costumes and join us for a night of devilish delights!

Happy International Chefs Day! 👩‍🍳

Today we're shining the spotlight on our wonderful Head Chef Emma, who has been leading the kitchen at the Eyre Hotel for seven years, with more than 16 years of hospitality experience behind her!

This year's theme is Food Explorers, and we reckon Emma fits that description rather well!

She's always exploring the incredible food bowl on our doorstep, seeking out some of the finest seafood and fresh produce from across the Eyre Peninsula and finding new ways to bring those local flavours to your plate.

But being a chef is about so much more than cooking.

It's creativity, leadership, mentoring, problem-solving and keeping your cool when the kitchen is anything but!

From supporting local producers and nurturing young chefs to leading her team through countless busy services, Emma brings passion, experience and dedication to everything she does and ever so quietly.

So today, we're raising our hats to Emma and our entire kitchen team. Thank you for everything you bring to the table, and everything you do behind the scenes.
