The Singapore Sling
Apart of our Fong Lees Lane menu, we didnโt really get the chance to explain the history behind this classic cocktail on Friday night. (Must have been busy ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ)
In 1915 it was socially unacceptable for women to drink alcohol in public at that time, respectable women were only allowed to order non-alcoholic options like tea or juice in public spaces. So Ngiam Tong Boon, a clever bartender at the Raffles Singapore hotel made this cocktail to look like fruit juice to enable women to drink it.
So Ngiam Tong Boon, pop off ๐, A toast to quiet rebels and unlikely allies
It was enjoyed so well that we sold out of it on Friday night!
