The Cavity restaurant and café in Venus Bay is a small premises located on the main street of Venus bay South Gippsland, close to Wilsons Promontory and 1 ½ hours’ drive from Melbourne. The kitchen specializes in locally caught seafood (Corner Inlet / Welshpool / Bass Straight – Baby calamari, scallops, rock flathead, King George whiting, gummy shark, duck fish, flounder, red mullet and snapper),

locally raised lamb and beef and imported smallgoods and cheeses, mainly Spanish. Dinner, tapas and dessert menus change weekly with produce availability. Cakes, biscuits and slices are house made to complement the highly popular Di Stefano brand of coffee. The bar provides a full list of spirits, ciders, Australian and New Zealand wine, Australian and imported beers, cocktails, fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and milkshakes at a very affordable price. Operating hours are as follows-
December 26 until the last Sunday off the Xmas school holidays (End of January / early February) – Breakfast, lunch and dinner
First week of school of the year – Thursday 3pm till 10pm, Friday 10am till 11pm, Saturday – 8am till 11pm and Sunday 8am till 10pm. Live music (Mainly blues) is provided Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays over the Holiday periods and Fridays and Sundays over the rest of the year. Every Friday night happy hour and a half is on from 5.30 till 7.00 offering $2 pots of Carlton Draught, $3 glasses of all house wines and $5 bowls of ‘Paella’ that is cooked in the bar. Games on offer are free pool, darts, fussball and electric shock guns. Group functions are welcomed with no premises booking fee (Excluding Xmas holiday period) and a range of options available upon request. After 14 remarkable years we have made the decision to close our doors as we pursue a new business venture. ☀️

We wish to express our profound appreciation to our valued patrons and loyal customers for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in our success. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you all. 🙏

Our final day of operation will be Easter Monday, April 6th giving us till the end of April to remove all equipment should no buyer be found.

Although we are ceasing operations, we remain optimistic that a new operator will assume our responsibilities and build upon the foundation we have established.

We extend our sincerest gratitude for the memories we've shared over the past 14 years.
