We’re closing The Social — and at this point, we’re just exhausted. We’ve pushed and pushed to keep this place alive, but the lack of local support has made it impossible. People booked parties and cancelled without a second thought. People refused to book and pay a deposit, booked via phone and didn't show up.
Nights went by with barely anyone walking through the door. And we were left wondering why we were fighting harder for this community than it was fighting for us.
And it’s not like we didn’t try.
We consistently had live music.
We brought back karaoke.
We hosted dating nights.
We ran open mic nights.
We consistently opened.
We listened, adapted, and stayed open to suggestions every step of the way.
We didn’t take on The Social to get rich. We took it on to give this town something different — a place to gather, celebrate, and feel connected. But you can’t keep pouring into something when barely anyone pours back.
Support your local businesses. Not just when it’s convenient — consistently. Because when you don’t, this is what happens. Places close. Owners burn out. Good ideas die. And what’s left? The same big clubs, the same pokies, the same cycle.
We’re disappointed. We’re tired. And we’re done.
