Our Story

90 Terrigal Esplanade is home to The Joker and Thief, a restaurant-bar designed by Fabric Architecture with interiors and styling by Stewart & Highfield.

While the name is an homage to Bob Dylan, our interior is Mad Men meets INXS – 1960s Mid Century Modern with a nod to Art Deco and a luxe Rock n Roll edge.

Dusty pink walls with timber panelling contrast deep hues, velvet upholstery, brass details and marble tabletops.

The Joker and Thief is pure escapism. Once you reach the top of the staircase, you will enter a world of unpretentious decadence.

Dress like Grace Kelly and Cary Grant in Hitchcock’s ‘To Catch a Thief’, sipping champagne and living in glorious workless luxury on the French Rivera, or cruise in from the beach wearing ‘Michael Hutchence on a day off’ attire for a JT cheeseburger and a frosty craft beer. All are welcome.

Our venue transforms from a bright and airy breakfast and lunch spot to a moody, plush night-time restaurant, bar and supper club with live entertainment.

DINING

Our menu, created by Head chef Dane Walker, centres around Modern Australian cuisine with a Mediterranean influence. Our indulgent offerings are designed to share, however if you’re dining unescorted or sharing simply isn’t your thing, our dishes can confidently stand alone.

COCKTAILS

Our signature cocktail list features The Joker and Thief’s very own ‘Kokomo’, ‘Clint’s Revolver’, ‘The Peruvian Swindler’ and ‘Purple Haze’. We of course offer a range of artisanal wines, craft beers and lush classic cocktails. We’re stoked to partner up with local suppliers across a range of products - Distillery Botanica in Erina and ONYX from Gosford. Always support local.

EVENTS

Book your event with us!

We can provide intimate spaces or something bigger, depending on your event. Whether it’s a birthday, Bat Mitzvah, Christmas work party, corporate event… anything at all – we can make it work. The Joker and Thief can cater for singles or up to 200 guests.
