🎣 TEA GARDENS FISHING CLUB
NEW SEASON UNDERWAY! 🎣
The new fishing season is officially underway, and our September outing was a great way to get things rolling!
Members were out fishing from 11th–13th September, with everyone getting the chance to enjoy a weekend on the water, around the rocks and beaches
This season also sees the introduction of our new Open Fishing category, which is for members fishing out past the heads. This category is separate from our Beach, Rock & Estuary section, giving members even more ways to get involved and compete throughout the season. 🎣

A big congratulations to all our members who got out there and had a fish during the September outing. Whether you were chasing fish out past the heads, working the beaches and rocks, or fishing the estuary, it was great to see everyone getting involved as we kick off another season.

Please be advised, outing fees have been increased to $5 as passed at the AGM, also there are now 2 fishing categories, 1. Open &
2. Beach, Rock & Estuary, again passed at the AGM.
An amended set of our By-Laws will be distributed at our October outing.

This Years AGM will be held on Sunday August 16th at 1.00pm, prior to the August Outing - Weigh in to be held at 3.00pm on the same day.

There are a number of items already listed for the AGM. If you have anything which you would like to raise to be considered at this AGM you must have these items submitted, to the Club Secretary, Chris Golledge, no later than the conclusion of the August monthly meeting which will be held on Monday, August 10th at 5.30pm at the Tea Gardens Country Club.

One item listed for the AGM is a major change to the competition structure. It is outlined below.

Proposed changes to competition structure.

Two categories to be introduced for both Men’s and Ladies sections.

* Open category - Fishers can fish in any location. Beach, Rock, Estuary and Offshore/Deep Sea.

* Beach Rock & Estuary category. Fishers can only fish - beach, rock & estuary.

That is – Men’s Section – two categories – Open and Beach, Rock & Estuary
- Ladies Section – two categories – Open and Beach, Rock & Estuary

Each angler is to nominate their chosen category prior to the first weigh in of the competition year.
Anglers cannot change categories during a competition year.

Largest of species.
Men’s and Ladies will have separate Largest of Species as our current procedures.
Within the Men’s and Ladies sections all anglers will compete for the largest of species no matter which category they are in, that is Open or Beach, Rock and Estuary.

Beach, Rock & Estuary Winner (Angler with highest points from Men’s and Ladies B,R&E Category)

Presentation Awards/Prizes.
There would be two extra trophy/prize awards in the Men's section and two extra trophy/prize awards in the Ladies Section.
That is:
* Men's section - There will be a winner and a runner-up from the Open category and a winner and a runner up from the Beach, Rock and Estuary category.

* Ladies section - There will be a winner and a runner-up from the Open category and a winner and a runner up from the Beach, Rock and Estuary category.

Additional cost associated with these changes
Monthly Outings - One extra outing winner per outing - 12 x $25 = $300
Presentation Awards - Category Winner 2 x $110 (approx.) = $220
- Category Runner-Up 2 x $55.00 (approx.) = $110
Total Extra Cost = $630

June Outing
12th–14th June
Another club outing done and dusted, with members heading out across the weekend in some mixed fishing conditions. While some anglers had to work a little harder than others, there was still plenty of quality fish brought to the scales and a great variety weighed in across the board!

Congratulations to this outing’s winners 👏

🏆 Women’s Winner – Cindy Groth
Cindy put together a fantastic mixed bag consisting of 1 Salmon, 4 Tailor, 4 Naniguy, 5 Snapper, 1 Morwong, 1 Flathead and 2 Bream to take out the ladies win!

🏆 Men’s Winner – Vaughan Dorahy
Vaughan had a standout outing, weighing in an impressive catch of 5 Tragalin, 4 Drummer, 1 Silver Drummer, 5 Tailor, 5 Bream, 5 Snapper, 1 Flathead, 2 Morwong and 1 Bonito to secure the men’s title.

Other fish weighed in over the outing:

It was great to see another solid turnout from members, with plenty of laughs, stories and fish at the weigh in table. Some anglers found the fish straight away while others may still be wondering if they accidentally left the hooks at home 😆

Well done to everyone who got involved and brought fish to the scales. Looking forward to seeing what the next outing brings! 🎣
