With the ski season officially kicking off, The Plough makes for an easy stop along the way.

If you are towing a caravan, camper or trailer, our drive-in, drive-out off-street parking means you can pull in, stretch the legs, enjoy a proper pub lunch or dinner, and be back on the road in no time.

Located just 250m off the Great Alpine Road between Wangaratta and Beechworth, we are perfectly positioned for travellers heading to Bright, Mount Hotham, Falls Creek and beyond.

SATURDAY DINNER & SUNDAY LUNCH UPDATE

With a cold and wet weekend on the way, we are now completely booked inside for Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch.

As winter starts to settle into the High Country and snow traffic starts making its way through the region, we strongly recommend booking ahead for the coming weeks.

The fire will be crackling, the pies hot and hearty, and the beer ice cold.

A few new additions have landed on the menu this week at The Plough Inn.

Chicken Liver Pâté served with cornichons and toasted sourdough, alongside our Pie of the Day - this week, Chicken & Leek with golden puff pastry, creamy mash and peas. Proper pub food for the colder weather rolling into the High Country.

Last week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights were booked out, so if you are planning on joining us this week, we strongly recommend booking ahead online or calling 5719 2722.

As the nights get colder, we would much rather have you settled into the warmth of the Bistro or near the fire in the Bar than tucked away in the Long Room.

IMMEDIATE START

We are looking for a passionate Cook and an Apprentice to become part of The Plough family.

If you love good food, enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen and want to be part of a warm, supportive team, we would love to hear from you.

At The Plough Inn Tarrawingee, we are building something special - proper pub food, genuine hospitality and a workplace where people enjoy coming to work.

We are looking for people who:
• Are passionate
• Take pride in what they do
• Work well as part of a team
• Bring a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Want to learn, grow and be part of the journey

3 to 4 years experience in a kitchen is preferred for the Cook role. And we are very happy to hear from apprentices wanting to start or continue their hospitality journey.

One week ago we got the keys to The Plough Inn.

Seven days later, we opened the doors.

To say the support over our first weekend was overwhelming would be an understatement. Seeing locals, familiar faces, travellers and new guests filling the pub again meant more to us than we can explain.

There are so many people to thank.

To Andrew and Rachael from thank you for helping shape the foundations of what we are building.

To Michael, our chef, who has stayed on through the transition, thank you for your hard work, care and commitment to the kitchen.

To our staff, both existing and new, thank you for jumping in with open minds, long hours, incredible energy and pure heart during a very big weekend.

And to all of the local trades and suppliers who worked around the clock to help us get the doors open within seven days of settlement, we truly could not have done it without you.

This is only the beginning.

There is still so much we want to improve, refine and bring to life over time, and we are incredibly excited for what is ahead.

For now, thank you for embracing us so warmly as custodians of this beautiful old pub. We cannot wait to continue offering you the very best of what we can do.

We are completely humbled to be stepping in as custodians of The Plough Inn Tarrawingee.

The welcome we have received, even before settlement, and thereafter, has meant an enormous deal to us.

Over the past few days, some of you may have seen work happening around the building. We are working with local trades, experts in their craft, who are carefully restoring and caring for the inn with respect for its history and heritage.

We are looking forward to opening the doors in a few days and welcoming you back in.

Ok, so time for us to wander off into the sunset. Thankyou to everyone who has came through our doors and brightened our day. Cate, Percy and I will look forward to seeing you around the Tarrawingee community we will continue to call home.

To our amazing staff we have had over our nearly 6 years, thankyou for being part of a great team and making our lives so much easier.

To our very loyal locals, thankyou for all your farewell thoughts and gifts and we are certainly looking forward to joining you on the other side of the bar.

To Peta and Scott who take the keys today, enjoy your journey and like everyone we are looking forward to watching the next chapter of The Plough unfold with you at the reins.
