The thing I love most about music is never quite knowing where a song might take you. 🖤

On Saturday 10th October, I’ll be behind the mic at Safari Club with a set that wanders through jazz, smoky blues and Americana roots — then takes a little detour with a pop of Latin, a touch of vintage and some ragtime for good measure. 💃🎶✨

That’s very much how I like my music. A little nostalgic, occasionally unexpected, sometimes sultry, sometimes playful — but always with a story somewhere in there. 🎙️🌹

Savanna Nights gives me the chance to bring all of those sounds together in one room, without worrying too much about which box they belong in. 🖤🎵

You know that smell when you walk through the door… 🤤🔥

The chargrill is firing, the steaks are sizzling 🥩🔥 and those juicy ribs are hitting the flame. 🍖🔥🔥

Drinks are cold 🍺🍹, plates are generous 🍽️, people are laughing 😂 and there’s that unmistakable Safari buzz in the air. 🦁🌿✨

A little bit loud 🔥
A little bit wild 🦁
And definitely not boring. 😏🍻

No fancy fuss. Just bloody good food 🤤🔥, good people ❤️ and a place where you can settle in and enjoy the night. 🍷🍻

🦁 A MESSAGE FROM ELLIOT — ABOUT AMEX & SMALL BUSINESS 💳

From 1 October, Safari Club will no longer accept American Express.

Justine and I have been in small business for a long time. We’ve raised our family while running businesses, employed local people, worked ridiculous hours and ridden out more ups and downs than I care to remember. ❤️

Safari Club isn’t a corporation.

It’s our family’s livelihood. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

For almost 20 years, we’ve accepted American Express. With the new card surcharge rules coming into effect on 1 October, we contacted AMEX and asked them to give us a better merchant rate.

They declined.

The problem is simple. 👇

From 1 October, we can no longer pass that cost on as a surcharge — but AMEX can still charge us for accepting their card.

The Reserve Bank acknowledges that domestic American Express transactions are typically more expensive for Australian businesses to accept than other major card networks.

For a big corporation, a percentage here and there might look insignificant.

For a family business, it isn’t. ❤️

It comes out of the money we use to pay our staff, our suppliers, our bills and ultimately support our own family.

So after nearly two decades, we’ve made the difficult decision that we will no longer accept AMEX from 1 October. 💳❌

We’ll now be having the same conversations with our other card and payment providers.

The RBA is reducing regulated interchange fees as part of these changes, and we’ll be asking our providers what savings they’re going to pass on to small businesses like ours. 🤝

If they aren’t prepared to work with us and lower the cost of accepting cards, then businesses like ours could eventually be pushed towards CASH-ONLY TRADING. 💵

I sincerely hope it doesn’t come to that.

But there’s only so much a small business can absorb.

Behind every little family business like ours are real people. ❤️

Families. Staff. Mortgages. Kids. Suppliers. And owners who quite often pay everyone else before they pay themselves.

We’re happy to pay our fair share.

But we can’t keep being everyone else’s bottomless pocket.

At some point you have to stand up for the business you’ve spent years building, the people who work alongside you and the family that depends on it. 🦁❤️

For us, that point has come.

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there. ❤️

To the dads, stepdads, grandads, foster dads, new dads, old dads and single dads doing it all.

To the men who stepped up and became a dad when they didn’t have to.

To the dads who are working today, the dads doing it tough, the dads who quietly carry the weight of their families without ever asking for recognition.

To those missing their dads today, and to the dads missing a child.

And to the beautiful men who may not have children of their own, but have loved, guided, protected and helped raise someone as though they were theirs.

Today we celebrate all of you. ❤️

And from our family, a very special Happy Father’s Day to the big guy himself… Elliot.

For more than 20 years, Father’s Day hasn’t really been his day.

While other dads are sitting down to lunch or dinner with their families, he’s been in the kitchen — cooking for theirs.

Year after year, giving up his own Father’s Day to make somebody else’s special.

Serving thousands of families over the years with the same thing he gives his own family every day — love.

So today, while he’s doing it all over again, we just want to say…

And we love you more than you know.

So many of your stories were humbling and heartwarming which made it so hard to chose, …..one story in particular landed very close to home for both myself and Elliot❤️

There’s something incredibly special about a human who steps into the lives of children who aren’t biologically their own and simply decides…

I’m going to love you like you’re mine.

No obligation. No “have to.” Just showing up, loving them, guiding them, protecting them and becoming Dad in every way that actually matters.

This one hit us because blended families are part of both Elliot’s and my own journeys. We know firsthand that biology might make you a parent, but sometimes it’s love, choice and a whole lot of showing up that makes you a mum or dad.

And THAT deserves celebrating. ❤️

Tonight feels a little bit special. ✨🌙

The stage is set.
The lanterns are glowing.

Savanna Nights with JuzzyDee begins tonight. 🦁

A little idea that’s been living in my head and heart is finally coming to life — an intimate night of jazz, blues, soul, a little wanderlust and songs I simply love to sing.

Dinner is FULLY BOOKED (thank you!! 🥹), but if you’re out and about later, wander in, grab yourself a gorgeous cocktail, find a little corner and stay for a drink, some music and some late-night Safari vibes. 🍸✨

No big production. Just beautiful atmosphere, good people and music in a room that feels exactly how I imagined it.

📣 A LITTLE REST FOR OUR SAFARI CREW 🦁💛

After a huge AgQuip week and an incredibly busy few days at Safari Club, our amazing team has definitely earned a chance to put their feet up! 😴🙌

We’ll be CLOSED Tuesday, 25 August to give everyone a well-earned breather.

🔥 REOPENING Wednesday, 26 August — rested, recharged and ready to fire up the grills again!
