A powerfully positive force in Australian entertainment, this guy's time, love and mentorship for newer comedians directly reflects his character and wholesome comedic persona.

When I finished my set, which stepped on his stage time by at least 3 minutes, he wordlessly gave me a huge bear hug that let me know my 100% was truly heard and felt.

With so much salt ⚪ in our game, it's refreshing to be reminded of how despite a few healthy are lifting our industry up rather than tearing it down 💓🤟🏾🎤

Learned throughout each developmental stage of life when no one stepped in. ⁣
⁣
Learned from the absence of relational or emotional learning. ⁣
⁣
Learned in our individualistic and cold world. ⁣
⁣
But, unlearned whenever you want to pause, come off autopilot and give yourself the power that has been taken from you throughout your whole life. ⁣
⁣
And not power over. Just empowered. ⁣
And not in a place of grandiosity or superiority. ⁣
⁣
But from bravery. ⁣
⁣
Its really hard to unlearn. Give yourself a break. Let it happen. Start with an awareness of when and why.

We have to find a way to normalize and deescalate our internal reactions to conflict. Because it’s going to happen. And if it’s not happening - there is likely a lack of emotion and distance. ⁣

Tight 5 Comedy is a Sydney-based travelling live comedy show company that privileges the voices of comedians of colour to reflect all the communities of today's Sydney.

@Tight5ComedyAU takes place on the stolen lands of the Durug, Gadigal, Wangal, Awabakal and Womini peoples, to whom the sky, land and waterways are a birthright and whose sovereignty was never ceded. Through uplifting and unifying our countless individual communities through the use of humour and truth, @Tight5ComedyShow performers pay respect to Indigenous elders past, present and emerging on lands that always were and will always be Aboriginal land.

We're reopening our doors for our 2nd year of celebrating and centring #comediansofcolour in Sydney, hailing from Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Sydney's favourite POC-owned social enterprise bistro cafe, Newtown's Parliament on King, returns with $5 drink specials that fund refugee hospitality training in their commercial kitchen. Bring a hot date, see if you laugh at the same jokes at our Friday & Saturday shows in Newtown, Blacktown and beyond.

Over the last 1.5 years, our famously POC-dominated comedy shows have survived multiple hate campaigns staged against us, defamation and misogynoir by other local comedians and direct intimidation toward our venue owners. We’ve also become the #1 provider of comedy writing & performance workshops to comedians of all experience levels around the world, been featured on SBS News for the change we’ve made and are the most imitated live show producer in Sydney.
