Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Folk Club aims to foster folk music and provides a venue for feature acts and locals to perform. The club has been operating for over 40 years and prides itself on its friendly and supportive atmosphere. The club holds a Concert Night o

n the third Friday of each month at Beatrice Taylor Hall, Willow Park, Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby. Music starts at 7.00pm and concludes around 10.00pm. The venue is a candle-lit coffee shop style setting, and you may feel free to bring a bottle and some nibbles. Tables may be booked in advance, otherwise on a first come basis - Please note that reservations cannot be held after 6.45pm. Parking is available in the Willow Park car park and surrounding streets. Each Concert Night, a booked performer/s is featured and (limited) floor spots are also available. The evenings are fun, friendly and full of variety. All forms of folk music, songs, poetry, etc are encouraged and the audience loves to join in the singing. Entry fee varies but as a guide $20, with discounts for Folk Federation members. Money raised less expenses goes to the feature artist. There is a tea break for a chat and a chance to meet the artists. Tea, coffee and cakes are provided; feel free to bring along something to share. We have also recently launched club Session Nights on the second Thursday of the month, where the floor is open to those who would like to perform a song/ tune/ poem/ story without the pressure of standing in front of a paying audience. You are also welcome to come along to a Session Night just to sit and listen. Contributions (around $5) are collected on the night to help cover the cost of hall hire. See our webpage hkfolkclub.au for more information on Concert and Session Nights and upcoming feature artists

Friday, June 19, doors open at 6.30pm

From Kiama, NSW (Dharawal country), The Water Runners have navigated mechanical mishaps, dangerous roads and dangerous roadhouse food to share their vibrant blend of bluegrass-infused Australian folk at festivals and venues nationwide.

Their strong musicianship and well-crafted songs offer a rich storytelling experience from the serious to the seriously fun. Their songs are rich in melody and storytelling that reflect the landscape of their experiences, all delivered in an engaging stage show and with a sound that is distinctively Australian.

- They have played at festivals and venues around Australia
- They have won various song-writing awards
- ‘People’s Choice’ finalists in the 2021 and Runners Up 2025 Australian Folk Music Awards
- Awarded best band in the 2020 National Busking Championships
- Top 10 in the ‘Australia’ Category of the 2024 Australian Songwriting Awards for their song “Murrumbidgee”

Their fourth album “Shelter” (produced by Syd Green - ex 19 20 and Kasey Chambers) is out now.
