We're two floors up from the Esplanade in a room with the doors folded back, terracotta on the walls and a kitchen run by women. It's Surfers, but not as you know it.

From here it's a straight run to the end of the year. The work lunch, a hens party, the one where half the friend group hasn't seen each other since last December. Somebody has to organise it.

Our large group menus are built for exactly that – set, shared, plates down the middle, so the ordering takes a minute instead of the first half hour. The room seats big groups without turning into a function.
