ONE CITY. ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SONGWRITERS.
From Tin Pan Alley and the Brill Building to Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan and CBGB, New York Stories traces the evolution of popular songwriting across nearly a century of New York history.
In this extended solo acoustic performance, Iโll be exploring the songs and stories of Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, Doc Pomus, Carole King, Paul Simon, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Mink Deville, Talking Heads, Beastie Boys and more.
Along the way, Iโll connect the writers, neighbourhoods and musical movements that helped shape modern popular music, occasionally weaving songs into medleys that reveal unexpected links between generations of New York artists.
Special guest Stu Thomas opens the evening, with Stu and joining me for selected songs during the night.
