Hi Everyone,

Well..... I made it. The 1000km is done and dusted. With the horrible start to the month I would rate this as one of the toughest yet.

A big thank you to all those people that have sponsored me. It's a great cause and a very exciting event to be part of. To all of those other slack arses that have either indicated, promised or otherwise dodged the sponsorship this year, there is still time. The Great Cycle Challenge accepts donations all the way through until the end of November. My individual page below:

In addition to my sponsors I would like to thank all of those cycling friends that have allowed me to draft and/or hide in the packs without doing my share of turns. That has been a massive help with my limited recovery.

Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for their support, especially Coco, who has had to endure my tired, sober whinging. I'm not sure her occassional, "for f% sake, just have a beer you grumpy bastard!" comments were truly in the spirit of the event but they obviously helped. Love you darling.....

Anyway, thanks again for your support and keep those donations rolling in.

Cheers,

Tony

It's 2024 and it's Great Cycle Challenge time again where I pedal my arse off for the month of October to fight kids' cancer!

This is my 10th year and arguably my worst start to the Great Cycle Challenge on record. The last month has been a mixed bag of injury and illness (stupid pneumonia) which is still impacting the first week of October.

My goal is to ride 1,000 km as has been the norm in recent years and I will be pedalling throughout the entire month to reach my target. To make the challenge even more difficult, I still remain sober throughout October as well (only because sober and October rhyme and due to the fact that certain friends believe the sober part is actually a way bigger challenge than the actual ride).
I do this every year to support the fight against kid's cancer.

Please sponsor me if you can and support my efforts to end childhood cancer and save stinky kids.

For those of you intending to sponsor me, you can do it anytime. However, the Great Cycle Challenge has, what they glamorously title, "Kick Cancer's Butt Day!". It's the one day throughout the challenge that the official corporate sponsors of the event match any donations made on the day. In years gone by this day is not disclosed until closer to the time. However, this year it has been announced early and it will be on Wednesday the 9th of October so everyone hang off until then. I will post a reminder on the day.

Simply click on the link below to view my fundraising page to follow my progress. It shows totals, rides, fundraising, blah, blah, blah, a whole bunch of useless information:

I encourage all of you social media addicts to share my page on whatever social media platform you desire.

All funds raised will support Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work to develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Thanks so much for your support and I look forward to seeing a lot of you on the bike!!

Cheers,

Tony
