So it came to pass that Baha would have its last day of trade... One last party to say goodbye. Everyone was invited and so many came out to say one last farewell and toast the amazing original that we built. It transcended anything we could have thought, the last day/ night was truly epic and from both of us we just wanted to say thank you RYE!! You have been a legendary town of music lovers and well miss you.

Jahna Oxford what an amazing person you are. We built it all from an idea we both bought home from our travels around Baja, Mexico and it spawned a music venue like no other. You cooked, i booked and in between we did heaps of other great/ crap jobs but mostly enjoyed what we created. I'll never forget the effort of you working whilst pregnant at Baha 1, right until your water broke and wall papering the floor of Baha 2 with Billie knocking on the door.. Great to share a vision together and see it thru till the end. I cant wait to see what you do next! Ill be there to support you either way in your next venture..

Thanks to our great kids, Peppa, Phoenix and Billie for bringing comedy, smiles and fun to us and staff. Like most they never wanted us to sell Baha, they enjoyed it too much but our journey, together as a family, was always going to take us back north to follow the sun.

In the words of Anthony Mundine, "we love yas all" and thanks for an amazing 12 years Rye. It was a blast.

Love Nathan, Jahna and our grommets!

Matt Jones the man behind the desk at Baha spent a fare bit of time on stage too. Most of us locally knew of Matty’s guitar playing ability but it wasn’t until you saw him play live that you realised the depths of his knowledge and shredding capabilities. Always a blast watching any of his bands live due to the mayhem he could produce on stage.
Sleepy mixed over 500 shows shows for us at Baha and dedicated most Friday and Saturdays nights plus a heap of Thursday and Sunday gigs aswell to ensure Baha produced quality sounds for the quality bands walking through our doors. Safe to say if it wasn’t for his dedication to his craft we would not have risen to the heights we did within the original music scene.
Thanks Matty for everything. Was a pleasure to watch you do your thing from the desk and watch you rip on stage!

Happy to announce that Tim Scanlan Trio will be taking us out over the weekend in amazing style like only they know how! Tim is well known to many and his music has been played all around the world in many styles from street performance (tim won the national busker competition last year in Melbourne) to large halls of grandeur and wonder. Amazing artists and no better way to see out the era of Baha with this man and his trio.
Sunday we will be open from 6pm for a final jam in the beergarden and some lovely drink specials to thank you all for your amazing support over the years.

So many amazing gigs over 12 years, baha staged over 2000 gigs of banging original artists who filled the town with charisma, charm and world class music. Bands that we would like to personally thanks:

- you helped make Baha the venue it was in those early/ mid years. So many great songs and performances. Simón Dodd you are world class and your band shined bright for so long. One of the few bands who could fill a dance floor with alt country tinged rock n roll.

StickyFingers- from the bottom to the top. We knew it the first time we saw you guys.

Dallas Frasca - one of our queens of rock n roll in this country.

Marty Williams - the peninsulas finest perveyor of good vibes and live music. A wonderful jam night for so many years.

Jeff Martin (Official) - having the pleasure of meeting and getting to know the lead singer of one our favourite bands, The Tea Party. Priceless!

Stand Out Gigs:

The Peninsula Lounge closed up shop within a day and we were fortunate enough to pick up the Dallas Frasca gig with Marshall and The Fro supporting. Still to this day our favourite gig. Marshall was unknown but blew everyone away in one single performance of unbridled rock n roll. His songs were immediate and transported everyone in the room.
Dallas followed up with what would become her signature live gig. Passionate power. Both have gone onto big things.

Swamp Thing - Michael Barker & Grant Taua
Still an all time gig and Band for us. Michael Barker, one of the true gentleman of the industry and ex John Butler Drummer. His new band were relatively unknown but blew everyone away. What a voice Grant Haua and what a drummer, Michael Barker!

President Roots - to hear a band like these guys in our little joint the first time was insane, the songs these guys had and performed were classic sounding and gave us cred. They played upwards of 20 gigs for us over the years and how Roots aren’t a household name still baffles me. Buy their albums..

Jeff Martin - when a legend comes to play all you can do is feel like you’ve made it and make home feel welcome. Jeff loved playing Baha and there was never a bigger sound to emanate from our stage. Highlight that came around once a year. Generally Jeff would start with a margarita and push on from there. True gentlemen too.

Sticky Fingers - there first gig they arrived at 10:30 on a Thursday. Most people had left. The 20 or so still there stoked they stuck around and got to witness a band that would go on to become our freshest young act in the country. By the time they played their last show for us it was sold out on the second day we announced. Dillon stuck around for 2 days after the gig.. good times, extensive rider whenever these boys rolled in. Always worth it!

Best NYE - our first one. Over capacity by about 50, ripping open air gig in The beergarden with Peace Pie and then Ganga Giri on the main stage! Epic, worth the fine!!

What we loved about music on the ninch -
We were generally blown away by how many great artists lived in this pocket of Victoria. It helped us establish a world class original venue. In no particular order:
Tub O Vas, STIFF RICHARDS Zombitches Ennistola, A Lonely Crowd, Bleach Redro Redriguez Kinematic Bloom The Grogans Mia Grunden Offchops plus many many more! Made our job pretty easy most the time with all the talent on display..

Baha dec 06 -Dec 18

To all of our amazing patrons and staff who have supported Baha over the last 12 years (5 at the original site and 7 at the current site) we’d like to say a Massive thank you !!

The time has come for us to say farewell and to thank you all for one amazing and special journey.

The lease to the current Baha site has been sold to Peninsula Hot Springs.

This week will be our last week trading, Sunday being our last day.

A mega shout out the all our regulars! We were very lucky to establish our business in Rye within such a lovely, musical community ! And if not for the support of you all over the years baha would not have grown to be the institution it became.

We made mistakes here and there but overall our journey into the world of hospitality and the live music industry was a successful one and we met so many amazing people on the way.

Big shout out to all our loyal crew of staff, past and present and an even bigger shout out to our parents, Ginge and Linda, Lester and Maureen and our amazing families who helped us massively with the start up of Baha and it’s ongoing operations. Nick and Regan we couldn’t have done it without you. Baha had a pulse for many years at its peak and you had a lot to do with that. We love ya’s!

The new owners, who are very well known to us all, will no doubt bring something very special to the building so before everyone loses themselves in suggesting this is the end of live music in Rye, rest assured Charles and Co have a vision that will include live music and support of the arts community to help continue the journey.

Stay tuned people of Rye!

Hope to see you at some stage as we celebrate our last week with some incredible music from some of our favourite artists;

Friday - Tim Scanlan Trio
Saturday - Ben Smith Band
Sunday - Beergarden jam from 6pm

Love Nathan and Jahna, Peppa, Phoenix and Billie.
