Dear valued Piano Bar patrons,

Thank you to everyone who pre-purchased tickets to this year’s season at Piano Bar Shipped Portarlington. We absolutely loved our post-COVID summer season last year, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

After a site inspection this week and discussions with stakeholders and suppliers, we have made the difficult decision not to proceed with Piano Bar Shipped at Portarlington this coming December and January.

There are many factors influencing our decision, including the BOM prediction of a 75% chance of higher-than-average rainfall in the region this summer.

Last summer, we experienced two serious flood events onsite, and this year the proposed site is already soaked and quite muddy underfoot.

There is potential for irreparable damage to plant and equipment, expensive last-minute cancellations, and hazardous conditions due to heavy rain and flash flooding.

Add to this staff shortages, site safety, OHS concerns, and issues around securing adequate insurance protection are also contributing factors.

I understand how disappointing this news will be to so many of you, particularly to our loyal Piano Bar audience and the visitors to the region who would have no doubt enjoyed themselves immensely.

However, Piano Bar’s management team agree that with so many considerable factors outside of our control, we have no other choice but to cancel.

We will be trading in our bricks-and-mortar venues right through January, and many of the feature shows scheduled for Piano Bar Shipped Portarlington will now instead be moved in-venue at Piano Bar Geelong.

Piano Bar also has your New Years’ Eve party plans covered! We are hosting our usual “NYE On The Pier” event, as well as a wonderful event in-venue at Piano Bar Geelong featuring live music by request and drag shows all night to usher in 2023.

We still hope you will be able to attend these fantastic shows right through December and January.

After numerous sold-out shows, Soul Sister Swing are off to Piano Bar Shipped in Portarlington!

Carol, Lynda and Gail have been performing together for over 35 years, and are famous for their magnificent vocal harmonies and infectious energy. This show is jam-packed with your favourite hits from the 1930s right up until today so come along to see why Soul Sister Swing is one of Geelong’s most loved and successful groups ever.
