I’m at the Hyde Park Hotel on the corner of Fitzgerald and Bulwer Sts, West Perth.
(Not North Perth, as they have on their website).
Talk about s**tty gentrification art everywhere. Talk about s**t music.
One fuggen Funk song after the other.
I had to download Shazam to see what song this one playing now it - it’s ‘Be Alright’ by the band ‘Zapp’. Released November 1980.
Why not support Australian musicians and play Australian Funk if you are going to play funk on repeat? Remember the early 1990s Aussie Funk wave - Swoop, Skunkhour???
Better yet support new and oldschool Australians musicians with an Aussie only playlist (Dragon can be Aussie for this playlist).
Yet - no imagination - one fuggen Funk song on after another.
A pint of Swan is $12 as well. Except when it’s $8, for Happy Hour (Monday to Wednesday 5-6pm only).
Bands: No. Pool Tables: No. Jukebox: No. TAB: Still has a TAB (is that really good but? It must bring in money, so they kept it).
Restaurant: Yes. Half the pub is a dedicated restaurant.
Who owns it?? It’s a ‘Woolies’ ALH Group Pub.
On the ‘Art’ - it’s the kind of safe, sanitised, vanilla ‘street art’ that would make an Accountant think their are living on the edge. It’s really fuggen tedious…
As is the continual Funk music.
So what do I rate it out of 10 as a pub?
I’m very tempted to demote it from a Pub altogether and deem it a Restaurant. Each table in the remaining pub wing is equipped with a table number and a ‘hip, upcycled’ looking tin of cutlery.
Maybe you could call the Hyde Park the restaurant bit of the West Perth Dan Murphys Liquor Store…
