The transition to Golf Australia’s new handicapping system is now complete, marking a major milestone in one of the largest digital transformations ever undertaken in Australian sport. Today, competition golf will officially resume nationwide within the Golf Australia CONNECT platform.

We'd like to thank the golfing community for their patience and support as we transitioned more than 1,900 clubs, 30,000 tee markers, 450,000+ golfer records and 280 million historic rounds.

Enjoy your golf this weekend, Australia! ⛳

Golf Australia CONNECT is coming. Here is a handicap update for the regulars.

From 2 October 2025, when Golf Australia’s new digital platform goes live, your GA Handicap will be calculated using updated Australian Rules of Handicapping in line with the World Handicap System. These changes are based on millions of rounds of analysis and will deliver fairer, more consistent, and be more reflective of actual playing conditions.

The four key changes are:
1. A new “Consistency Factor” for Daily Handicap calculations, supporting fairer competition and equity based on your averages.
2. A fairer formula for 9-hole rounds to more accurately reflect half of an 18-hole handicap.
3. Adjusted expected scores for holes not played, using statistical modelling.
4. A refined ’Daily Difficulty’ calculation (PCC). This will be back-calculated to 1 January 2023.

Most golfers will see a small change to their GA Handicap on 2 October, projected to be less than 0.5 strokes on average, although some players may see a bigger adjustment based on their unique scoring history.

The system applies the changes automatically, so golfers don’t need to do anything.

ATTN Pemby Golf Club players, changes are coming to the existing GA handicap system!
This affects everyone weather you use or don't use todays tech provided for golf. Have a read of this article and prepare yourself to roll over to the new app on October 2nd. Make sure your credentials are up-to-date if you use the current Golf Australia GA Handicap app or website before the rollover date, as the current app will soon be made redundant. If you currently use the app to follow other golfers in and outside your club other than yourself then I suggest you begin writing those golflink numbers down as they will not roll over once the current app is shut down ,if you wish to continue following the score history of your friends you need to re-add them in the new app. You should automatically be receiving email updates about this transition if your details are correct several months back.

If you do not use the app or online browser portal golf.org.au for keeping track of you and others handicap, then you need not worry about this transition. However, we encourage you to ensure your account details are up to date or create an online account if you do not have one already as it does make golf life easier believe it or not. (especially for administrators!)
If you do not create an account before the system rollover then your current golflink number will be used as your ID should you choose to make an account in the future, however this number will be permanently fixed to you FOREVER regardless if you change clubs down the track.

So I do encourage everyone to read and check out the guide in the link provided at the end of this article to explain in more depth about the upcoming changes to the handicap system and what it means for your daily handicap and how it will be calculated in the future...

From GolfAustralia Connect:
In coming weeks, you will no doubt hear about changes coming to the technology used to enhance your golf experience.
Those changes stem from Golf Australia undertaking a major digital transformation that includes the transition away from the 25-year-old GOLF Link platform to a new system called Golf Australia CONNECT.

This new platform will provide enhanced technology services to more than 1,900 golf clubs and venues, and Australia’s 450,000-plus golf club members.

For golfers, there will be two key changes coming from October 2 later this year.

The first of these will be the introduction of the new Official Golf Australia Official App which will replace the existing GA Handicap App. The new app will retain the existing handicap lookup feature and introduce a range of exciting new tools to enhance the golfer experience.

The new mobile app will be available via either the Apple App or Google Play stores from October 2. Further instructions on how to move from the old to the new mobile app will be provided to both clubs and golfers in the weeks leading up to the transition.
For those golfers that use apps through Licensed Software Providers (LSPs), such as MiClub, SimpleGolf, Golf Magic, Pulse Club, Golf Genius and GolfBox, you will be able to continue to use these apps just as you do now.

Secondly, there will be a new portal to access your GA Handicap. This will be done via Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia’s new website, GOLF.com.au which goes live on October 2. Through your account, you will be able to view and track your handicap in a streamlined, mobile-friendly and highly functional new dashboard.
Prior to the October 2 transition, the only thing you need to do is check your existing golf.org.au account details are up to date.
If you don't already have an online account, and you wish to view your handicap history online or use the new GA App following the transition, you will need to create an account at golf.org.au.
From October 2, golf.org.au will automatically redirect to the new GOLF.com.au website.

In order to undertake the transition effectively, Golf Australia has advised all clubs and venues there will be an offline period from the evening of September 28 through to October 2. During this short period, rounds of golf played will not be able to be handicapped or submitted to the portal.

While some clubs will regain access to the new platform from October 2, up to two weeks will be required for clubs affiliated with MiClub to fully integrate into the platform and provide their respective clubs with handicap functions.
Clubs are reviewing the golfing calendar with this offline period in mind.

These new handicap and club management solutions have been developed by Golf Australia in partnership with DotGolf, a golf technology company co-owned by The R&A and Golf New Zealand.
DotGolf has significant experience in providing golf technology services including handicapping management to golfers and golf clubs in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and New Zealand.
As with any major technology transition, there will be some key initial steps for users - principally golf clubs and their members - to help facilitate the change to the new system.

Golf Australia’s ambition is to ensure these transitional steps are simple and kept to a minimum. Two key steps are being taken to assist golfers with the change. Firstly, Golf Australia has been recruiting Golfer Onboarding Champions from clubs who will be on the ground from October 2 to assist their fellow club members with any transition issues.

Secondly, we will be significantly expanding resources for our own Golf Australia Helpdesk to provide direct support to golfers.
In the meantime, if you want to know a little more about this technological transition, Golf Australia has developed an online Golfer Information Guide. You can access this guide here:

https://golf-australia-connect-club-guide.my.canva.site/golf-australia-connect-golfer-information-guide

This is an important project for golf around Australia. Golf Australia is excited about the benefits that will eventually flow to its clubs, facilities, golfers and golf fans.

A good turnout for the Brendon (Berger) Barnsby memorial day. Had 27 starters with proceeds going to a cancer recipient. Around $800 was raised on the day mostly through our fines session.
A huge shout out to the Barnsby ladies who put on a tremendous spread feeding the hungry golfers.
Winners on the day were Guy, David and Soa, seen here with Berger's daughter Montana and captain Steve.
R/up's were DJ, Adsy and Millsy photo with Montana.
We hope that next year attracts a few more golfers, as unfortunately we were missing a number with other commitments and injuries. The PGC is proud to be a participant in conjunction with the Barnsby clan to such a worthwhile cause.

Congratulations to all the winners who managed to take something back with them, I believe Steve Fisher had 25+ years practice to finally win the King Karri Kup, so he took his time to pull his finger out but the field was close and fierce with several count-backs in the mix and to Lorraine Martin of Bunbury Golf Club for winning the second Queen Karri Kup. The Kalkutta results also seen the winning syndicate take home a healthy sum due to the good and not so good scores.

A big thank you to our major sponsors:
Joe Bendotti of Bendotti Avocado. Costa Group. Pemberton Hotel. Retravision Manjimup. Perella Steel Fabrication & Industrial Supplies. STANS Manjimup Farm Machinery. Treenbrook Cottages. Forrest Lodge Resort. Big Brook Retreat. Mark Symonds of Brockman Fish N Chips at Pemberton. David Rado of Pemberley of Pemberton Wines. Alexanders Sportspower Manjimup. Garry Rising.
