We pride ourselves on being the most popular destination in the historic village of Paterson. Offering cold draught and bottled beers, our range of Boydell's, Hunter Valley and Australian wines, cocktails and premium spirits. ditioned (in summer)/open fire (in winter) bar, in the alfresco courtyard or under our historic verandah. If you enjoy a punt we have TAB facilities. Paterson Tavern made it's debut in 1882 (originally known as the Commercial Hotel), and still boasts many of its original features including intricate wrought iron lacework and the fabulous wide upstairs balcony. Our beautiful Tavern was once a coach stop for weary travelers and continues to be the first choice for locals and visitors alike to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink or share a delicious meal. Today, over a century later, locals and travellers are still drawn to The Tav for a drink and a delicious meal. The Bistro is open daily for

A little update for our wonderful community 💛
We have decided to take New Year’s Day off and will be back open on January 2nd.
With no bookings and limited staff availability, it feels like the right time to give everyone a well-earned breather.

She’s been very much requested, and while renovations meant we had to wait a little longer, we’re beyond excited to finally welcome her back!

We LOVE welcoming all of you to the Tav and making sure everything is ready for a fantastic visit.

If your plans change, especially for larger bookings, it would really help us if you could let us know. Of course, it’s absolutely fine if 1–2 people can’t make it, but big changes do make a difference to how we staff and prepare.

We’d much rather not have to ask for credit card details and charge a no-show fee like some places do – so we’re kindly asking for your help instead.

You can update your booking easily online via your confirmation SMS or email, or give us a ring (leaving a voicemail is totally fine).

We're open every day as usual throughout the festive season, with just a few key dates to keep in mind:

17 December: Final Trivia Night of the year
Christmas Eve: Open as usual
Christmas Day: CLOSED
Boxing Day: Open as usual (no raffle/Joker Poker)
New Year’s Eve: Open as usual – plus our NYE event the Big Backyard Bash 🥂

Our much-loved Friday night regular picked the Joker last week and strolled out with $2,300 🙌

Fun fact: 100% of our winners have been at the Tav on a Friday night! And with our Joker Poker about to get a little more lucrative, the odds are better than ever! 👀

Starting this Friday, we’ll be giving away 3 meat trays in our raffle, and all 3 winners will get a chance to pick the Joker. The jackpot will increase by $200 each week, starting at $200.
