Winter in the vineyard isn’t the quiet season… it’s the foundation season. 🍂

While the vines rest, the real planning begins — pruning decisions, vineyard maintenance, machinery preparation and setting the path for Vintage 2027.

Every cut made this winter helps shape the season ahead.

Here’s to fresh mornings, muddy boots, foggy vineyards and growers continuing to back the future of their vines.

From all of us at Vineyard Mates — welcome to Winter. ❄️🍇

There’s been a lot of discussion around the Federal Budget this week and what it could mean for small business owners, farmers and families moving forward.

For anyone sitting there thinking… “OK, but what does this actually mean for us?” — our mate and mentor Andy Fenton is running a free Small Business Budget Brief tonight at 7:00pm AEST.

Andy has a great way of breaking complex topics down into practical, real-world conversations around:
• business structures
• trusts & asset protection
• paying yourself properly
• and what the next 2 years could look like for business owners.

Well worth tuning into if you’re wanting to stay informed and think proactively about the future.

Andy Fenton

The biggest reshape of small business structuring in 100 years. Trusts, bucket companies, tax. A 2-year window has opened. Free online briefing with Andy Fenton, Thursday 14 May 7pm AEST.

No two seasons are ever the same.

One year it’s frost.
The next it’s labour.
Then rain at the wrong time.
Heat.
Disease pressure.
Costs.
Fruit prices.
Market uncertainty.

Every season asks different questions of growers.

That’s why good vineyard management isn’t just about completing jobs.

It’s about paying attention.
Adapting.
Communicating.
Making practical decisions at the right time.

The vineyards that continue to perform long term are rarely built on quick fixes.

They’re built season by season.
Decision by decision.
Relationship by relationship.

This industry can be tough — but it also produces some of the most resilient people you’ll ever meet.

And we’re proud to work alongside them.

There’s a big difference between someone who tells you what to do…

…and someone who walks alongside you while you do it.

In this industry, growers don’t just need contractors.

They need people who understand the pressure.
The seasons.
The uncertainty.
The financial stress.
The weather.
The decisions that keep you awake at night.

Anyone can point at a problem.

“Your vineyard needs this.”
“You should do that.”
“Here’s the quote.”

But the real value comes from the people willing to roll up their sleeves and help navigate the road with you.

At Vineyard Mates, we’ve always believed vineyard management is more than machinery and operations.

It’s partnership.
It’s communication.
It’s helping growers make practical, commercial decisions season after season.

Not just telling and pointing.

Walking alongside.

🍇 Vintage 2026

Vintage 2026 is well underway, and it’s been a season that’s kept everyone on their toes.

Early mornings, late nights, watching weather windows, moving quickly when the fruit is ready — it’s a reminder that harvest doesn’t wait.

Behind every load of grapes is a team, a plan, and a lot of moving parts coming together at the right time. Coordination between growers, wineries, and crews.

Across the weeks, we’ve seen:

🚜 Harvesters rolling from block to block
🚛 Bins filled and heading off to the wineries
🌙 Night shifts under lights
🤝 Teams working together to get the job done

It’s not always easy — but it’s what we do.

At Vineyard Mates, we’re proud to have been alongside our growers through it all — helping get fruit off efficiently, safely, and in the best condition possible.

To all the growers, winemakers, operators, and crews —
well done on getting through another vintage.

Days like today are about getting the vines through.

With temperatures again over 40°C across the Barossa, the focus is on minimising stress — on vines and people.

Stay cool out there 🌿
