JSIS Engineering Capabilities

JSIS Engineering’s significantly upgraded polyurethane manufacturing capabilities following a move to a new facility.

· JSIS has invested in new state-of-the-art equipment, including a high-capacity polyurethane mixing machine, controlled ovens, and an electronic QA system, resulting in higher production capacity, shorter lead times, and improved quality.

· The new process supports single casts from 300 g up to 300 kg, maintains strict FRAS MDG3608 compliance via mass flow meters, and currently produces around 5 tonnes per month.

· Average lead times have reduced from up to ~20 working days to approximately 7–10 working days, subject to tooling availability.

· Bonding performance has improved substantially, with peel adhesion results increasing from an industry standard of ~14 N/mm to an average of ~38 N/mm (best recorded 47.2 N/mm), independently tested off-site.

· JSIS has strengthened capability through workforce training in polyurethane processing and has updated its website to display FRAS certifications.

At JSIS Engineering, our conveyor Pulley Coating Process provides comprehensive protection across the entire pulley, from the face and shell through to the ends and extending all the way to the Ring Feder.

The coating creates a tough, durable barrier designed to protect the pulley shell from moisture, chemicals, slurry, and other corrosive contaminants commonly found in harsh mining and processing environments. By protecting the complete surface, we help minimise corrosion, deterioration, and premature wear, extending the service life of the pulley and reducing costly maintenance and unplanned downtime.

Every coating is completed under our Robust QA process, with strict preparation, application, and inspection requirements throughout the job. Our process incorporates detailed surface preparation, controlled coating application and quality testing and inspection to ensure the finished coating meets the required performance and durability standards.

JSIS Engineering - FRAS Polyurethane - Built for Underground Mining

When it comes to FRAS Polyurethane for the underground mining sector, compliance isn't simply about being "flame resistant.", our FRAS polyurethane products are developed and manufactured with the requirements of TRG 3608 – Non-Metallic Materials for Use in Underground Coal Mines at the forefront. Our approach combines controlled manufacturing, rigorous testing, quality assurance, and product traceability to deliver polyurethane products suitable for demanding underground mining environments.

🔥 Fire Resistance Testing

Our polyurethane formulations are assessed against the applicable fire performance requirements, including testing for:

· Ignitability

· Flame propagation

· Flame resistance

· Oxygen index and related fire performance characteristics where applicable

The polyurethane must also be designed and tested to control the build-up of electrostatic charge. Static electricity can create a potential ignition source in an underground coal mining environment, particularly where combustible gases or dust may be present. That's why the electrical properties of the polyurethane formulation and finished product are an important part of the FRAS assessment.

· ⚡ Electrical resistance testing

· 🔬 Verification to the required electrical properties

· 📋 Maintaining consistency between the tested formulation and production batches

Materials used underground must also address electrostatic risks, with electrical resistance properties assessed to ensure the material meets the applicable requirements.

Different underground applications can require specific assessment and testing, including products used for: Ventilation, Minor Conveyor, and Non-Defined Applications.
