Behind the scenes of our Can For a Cause Bread & Bitter ESB Ale 4.2% that is launching next week!
All proceeds from this beer are going towards (SFC), a sea - roots movement dedicated to positive climate action, and our plan was to make this beer as sustainable as possible.
Spent Grain is a byproduct of brewing that makes up for 85% of brewing waste and we knew we could find a way to minimise this number.
Shane our head brewer had the idea of using bread, dehydrating it and adding it into our malt bill, so we called all of the local bakeries in our area asking if they had any bread that they would dispose of at the end of the day, and outlook_bakery were kind enough to donate 200 loaves of bread to this beer.
This meant removing 20% of our brewing waste π
The other 65% will be sent to local farmers as fertiliser or to feed their livestock.
