TOMORROW: Amelia is heading to the Vivid Fire Kitchen stage to host a special series: Wine Collective - Women of Wine. The Vivid crew has done a stellar job of rounding up some of NSW’s most exciting winemakers (and some of our particular faves!) to hear the stories behind their wines, regions, and the women redefining what wine from NSW looks like today 🍷

Amelia will be hosting three individual chats and tastings throughout the evening: Samantha Sutherland | Mem Hemmings .wine | Nadja Wallington

Tomorrow night, we’ll taste our way through a curated line-up of wines for our next Famelia Wine School workshop: Wine 101. We’ll be looking at the things that build a wine... soil, climate, altitude, varietal, winemaking and everything in between. Wine can feel complicated… but it really starts with simple questions. In our next ‘Wine 101’ session, we’ll start in the vineyard... soil, climate, altitude +, and follow the journey through the winery to what’s actually in the glass in front of you. The whole aim is to connect the what happens “before” to what you’re actually tasting ! At Famelia, we don’t overthink wine... it’s all about making it feel a little more open, a little more understandable, and a lot more enjoyable.

The coming final weekend of this wine list calls for something hefty and giving... And we have a few to choose from! A juicy ‘thicc’ red under 10%, something that’s all foraging-forest-floor, a chilled gothic red that bursts with liquorice bullets and rose, a commanding bad girl that’s equal parts cigar box and peppercorn, plus a gnarly old-vine Spanish red... smoke, dried figs and menthol. All a lil’ different, all delicious!

Come snag a glass, bottle or work your way through a flight before the list changes shape next week x

First up, a truly remarkable 2022 vintage sparkling from Eminence Wines’ : Made in High Plateau Whitlands with admirable intentionality & precision. Zero dosage keeps the expression pure and intense, and the cool climate fruit radiates brightness, sophistication & length.

Then there’s a rollercoaster of a fizz from (Yoko Luscher-Mostert & Andries Mostert): A wonderfully joyous ride through aromas of cherry, wild strawberries, green capsicum and smoky ash, through to a palate with rhubarb, guava, passionfruit, sherbet, stalky green-ness & blueberry jam. It’s luscious, tart, fruity & herbaceous all at once!

Both are dangerously drinkable - proceed with caution !
