The Newcastle Whisky & Craft Spirits Festival returns to Bartholomews on August 24th. Devotees of whisky, gin, rum, vodka and liqueurs will be spoilt for choice with an abundance of brands represented. Sample over 100 different products from 30 different stallholders.

The event is held over two sessions and masterclasses throughout the day allow you to talk to the experts, and it doesn't stop at the tasting either! Tickets include food, as well as entertainment once the tasting is done.

Stallholder Profile: CENTRAL COAST DISTILLING CO.

A small Artisan Distillery Based on the Central Coast of NSW. All of their products are made by hand with the finest ingredients available. Their aim is to “keep it Local” as best they can. Their base spirits are made from 100% Australian grown ingredients and mashed and fermented on site. Yes, it takes longer, but they retain full control of all the products they produce.

Stallholder Profile: BANKS & SOLANDER

Banks & Solander is a family-owned boutique micro distillery hidden in the back streets of Botany, built by husband and wife team Marty and Ed. Their passion is making fine spirits, hand crafting artisanal refreshments from the best possible ingredients for you to enjoy.

The idea of starting the distillery came back in 2014 after experimentations with a home still. A trip to Tasmania made them realise this was something they could do on a slightly larger scale. From then on it was a journey, building a distillery from scratch in amongst a growing family. After years of working evenings and weekends they now have a space in which they can house their two modest stills and make the drinks they love. They have developed a signature gin, a limoncello and coffee liqueur and are constantly experimenting, finding new ingredients and combining flavours and aromas to create the next generation of drinks.

Stallholder Profile: KAWAL ROCK

The Kawal Rock gin distillery is in the heart of the Hunter Valley, producing unique quality gin, vodka and brandy from their 60 year old vines. Each bottle of gin is meticulously hand-filled in small batches, on-site at the Kawal Rock distillery. This ensures the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Kawal Rock is proudly women owned and operated. Maria and Louise have been given the title "The Girls On The Hill" inspired by the location of their vineyard and distillery. With a dedication to excellence, Maria and Louise oversee every aspect of the production process at Kawal Rock ensuring nothing but the best.

The Hunter Brandy
Kawal Rock brandy is the only brandy produced in the Hunter Valley and uses the grapes that couldn't be picked during the 2019 bushfires. A stunning spirit made from locally sourced grapes and matured in French oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years.
