**Welcome back., Your dreams were your ticket out..**
For some reason I have the 'Welcome Back Kotter' song in my head. If you don't know the show from the late '70's, it broke multiple rules, and literally ran it's own show!

Set in a fictional classroom in Boston, when Boston had court ordered segregation, this show did it's own thing. blacks, whites, hispanic , all 'remedial' students in a Boston classroom, marked as 'juvenile delinquents'. If you haven't seen it, it's a hoot.. Youtube it.

Speaking of Youtube-ing, and running your own show.. back to the Hotel. Check out a small selection of the books currently in the Hotel Book Swap! How good is this??
Again, thanks to Kel for driving this initiative available 24/7 at the Hotel, and to Wave Dorkley for his (questionable) carpentry skills and helping getting it upright with Robert (who I know valued his assistance immensely).

**Raffle Friday and Father's Day Sunday**

The raffle is on at the Hotel again this Friday - take a look at this weeks meat tray from Beany's in Koroit, they do know their stuff! Second and third is a bottle of wine, and a six pack, respectively. Drop into the Hotel and get your tickets anytime during Friday (from 11.00am)- raffle drawn at 7.00pm. You don't have to be there for the draw, we'll call you if you win!

And its Father's Day this weekend. For those who like a good steak and wine, we have a special on for you at the Hotel for Father's Day lunch.. Don't forget to call and book your table for Sunday!

Now if you really want to give Dad an AMAZING day out, why not do a morning Glenelg River Cruises Nelson Victoria, from 10.00am -12.00pm, then come over to the Hotel for lunch afterwards for the Father's Day special, and really give Dad a great day out.

The Hotel is offering an ALL-IN special for this one - that's a place on the morning cruise up the beautiful Glenelg River and then the Father's Day lunch special back at the Hotel - $90 per person! **It's been a while**
Hi all, it's been a little while since I got anything up here.

So let's do a bit of an update.

Firstly - Vic Fisheries were in town this weekend, checking the river, which by all accounts is going strong. It's always great to hear the fishing stories they bring in with them (all true of course!).

Secondly - More importantly they did well out of the Community Group Raffle, scoring wins for first and third! And second place going to Gaye who chose the mystery box. Big thanks to Kaz too, who's doing a cracker job organising and running it. Especially with me being all over the shop with other commitments. Without her help, it wouldn't happen! (PS thanks to all the ticket folders too!)

Thirdly - many of you will know the back dining room at the Hotel has been out of action for a long time. We needed to use it as storage and prep why we did the massive amount of work needed to get the back kitchen, fridge room and new storage area sorted and usable. Then we spent some time walking around and around the dining room trying to decide how we wanted it to look, and what we wanted it to be, and do...

Well... stage one is done! Now furnished, the back dining room can seat 26 people between two beautiful antique extendable tables, and plush upholstered chairs.

Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be posting a timetable of events coming to the Hotel, including some really cool special stuff coming to the back dining room.

Fourthly drinks - we've nearly finished building a new wine list. Old favourites still there, but some fabulous new comers as well... keep your eyes open for that. A set of cocktail options, some invented right here at the Hotel, some classics, are also on their way (yes, the Espresso Martini is definitely staying!) We are also ramping up our non-alcoholic options, not mocktails as such, a range of beautifully tasty drinks, with no alcohol. We had such massively good feedback for the ones we tested over events last year, that we're bringing a permanent line up in.

Fifthly - well, there is no fifthly really... not yet anyway, there will be more, something for a later date. Oh wait - there is - Sunday 13 September 2026 at 2.30pm - OPEN MIC is back... come on down and enjoy, Shane Carmody Music is back at the helm!

We look forward to catching up with all our regulars, and newcomers, at the Hotel for a drink at the bar, a quiet afternoon in the beer garden, an open mic or a special event... See you soon!

** BOOK the DATE! - Spring Market @ Nelson**

The weekend of October 10 and 11 will be a huge weekend for the far South West. This years Fed Walk is being hosted by the Friends of the Great South West Walk (https://fedwalks.org.au/), over this weekend, with walkers from all over the country doing various walks in the Portland Nelson area and canoe trips up and down the Glenelg River. (check the Fed Walks website for more information)

The Glenelg River Cruise boats will be ferrying walkers and visitors up and down the Glenelg all weekend as well.

So, to bring a full event feeling to Nelson for that weekend, in conjunction with the Nelson Community Volunteer Group there will be some great activities.

More details over the coming weeks! But start thinking... Market Stalls from all over, a cake stall in the tradition of the fabulous Women's associations and Guilds of Australia, even maybe a baking competition in honour of a local baking legend. (keep your eyes out for more on this) Activities for the kids ...

It'll be a great weekend to cruise the Glenelg River and spend time in the surrounding areas.
