🌱🎨NATURE STUDIO RETURNS THIS OCTOBER 🎨🌱

Our Nature Festival event brings the theme of SEED to life through a culturally grounded, place-based experience that nurtures learning, creativity, and connection.

Held within the Indigenous Garden at the Naracoorte National Trust, this event begins with a guided cultural walk and talk led by First Nations Elder Uncle Doug, who will share knowledge of native plants and their uses.

Participants will then take part in an art workshop led by Meintangk artist Tanya Hartman, whose work already shapes the space through her welcome mural and stepping stones. In this workshop, participants will respond to what they have seen and heard, translating their observations into expressive outcomes.

This event is part-funded through a Nature Festival regional micro-grant, generously supported by RAA and the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board.

📍Saturday 10 October | 10.00am - 3.00pm
🎟️This is a free community event, however spaces are limited. To register and for more details visit 👉 www.naturefestival.org.au/event/nature-studio-naracoorte

✈️Community Chest success story🌿

With the current round of Community Chest still open, the Naracoorte Model Aero Club has shared its Community Chest success story from 2025-2026.

The club received $1300 in Round 2 of the 2025-2026 Community Chest program to go towards purchasing a new ride-on mower to replace its old mower.

The mower is used to establish and maintain runways and keeps the area around the clubrooms well maintained to not only look great, but also mitigate the risk of fire.

Many thanks to the club for sharing photos with us of your new mower! 👏

Council's current round of Community Chest closes at 5pm on Friday 25 September 2026.

Community organisations may be eligible to apply for up to $3,000 per year.

Visit 👉https://bit.ly/nlc-communitychest for more details including eligible organisations and projects, selection criteria and the application form.

👏Welcome from us to you for Welcoming Week 2026✨

Today kicks off Welcoming Week 2026 - an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be welcoming places for all.

This year's theme for Welcoming Week - which runs from 10-20 September - is 'Belonging is Everyone's Business'.

The theme recognises that belonging is not a standalone initiative - it's a collective practice. It calls on all of us to consider how we can work together to strengthen that sense of belonging for everyone. Because when belonging is actively cultivated across the whole community, it doesn't just benefit individuals, it benefits us all as it strengthens social cohesion, builds trust, and helps communities thrive.

Belonging is built in the every day - and everyone has a part to play.

Our area has a proud history of welcoming people from around the world who bring skills, experiences and cultural knowledge that strengthen our communities.

So, from us to you, a heartfelt welcome to Welcoming Week 2026! 🫶
