In our pursuit to fill the Totness Inn Hotel with interesting furnishings from the mid 1800's to early 1900's, here is a peek at our latest purchase.

A circa 1890 Chromolithograph advertisement for Lochiel Highland Scotch Whisky which shows the 17th Chief of Clan Cameron (Sir Ewan Cameron) at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689.

Affectionately known as "The Duke" by those who frequented the South Australian Hotel, this framed advertisement is believed to have looked down on patrons at the bar from 1890 until the hotel was demolished in 1971.

The South Australian Hotel was considered one of the grand hotels of Australia. It was first licensed in 1878 and around 1900 the magnificent three-storeyed balcony was built. Famous guests included Anna Pavlova, Noel Coward, Katharine Hepburn and the Beatles. It was demolished in 1971 for the Ansett Gateway Hotel (now Stamford Plaza). The image we have is from 1907.

At some point in time during the 1960s a Mrs Eula WARE from Po Box 61 Mount Pleasant sent a postcard showing the Totness Inn Hotel prior to 1918.

In the middle of the postcard (which has been animated) you can see what we call the great hall running deep into the block with the bar area and front verandah just forward of it.
