Thanks everyone for taking the time to share your feedback about recently erected signage on the Keane Street road reserve. We understand this area has been enjoyed by local children and families for many years, and we appreciate the community sharing their views.

The recent signage was installed in response to a significant increase in activity within the reserve area, including unauthorised earthworks and use by powered vehicles. The signage was placed at the edge of the waterway area due to concerns about earthworks and modifications within the waterway itself, particularly given the area’s history of significant flooding and the potential safety risks associated with changes to the waterway area.

Push bikes have always been allowed on the road reserve connecting Keane Street between Clarke Street and Riley Road. Following community feedback, the Shire has reviewed the signage and it will be updated to clarify that pedal-powered push bikes can continue to be used in this area.

However, for safety reasons, electric bikes, e-scooters and motorbikes are not permitted within the waterway area. Unauthorised earthworks, including the construction of jumps and other features, are also not permitted.

These measures are intended to balance community use of the area with public safety, the protection of nearby residents, the surrounding nature reserve and the riparian environment (the land and vegetation along the river).

We appreciate everyone who took the time to provide feedback.

Try A Trade Fair at Central Midlands Senior High School has been a brilliant way for us in the Community Development Team to share the various career paths available here within the Shire of Moora. Some expected for our region, but others more surprising like PR and brand marketing!

We are using this for what it is - a great opportunity to strengthen our long-lasting connection with Central Midlands Senior High School; with the aim to support our young people with more employment opportunities here within our Shire.

Thank you so much to all the students who stopped by our stall today, it was a great way for us to meet you all and find out how we can work to support your goals in the future!

Seeing history in physical form is always such a pinch me moment!

To get into the spirit of the 115th Moora Show on Saturday, 19th September, we asked the Moora Historical Society if they had anything to show from over the years, and Kaye did not disappoint.

Throughout bush fires, floods, war, depression and more, the community and families of Moora & the surrounds have shown grit, determination and so much heart to ensure that traditions such as the Moora Show stays in the forefront of everyone's mind.

There have been some amazing treasures uncovered, and we highly recommend heading over to the Moora Historical Society Museum on a Sunday to check it all out; and ask the team about some stories they have to share.

You can also read the article we wrote to celebrate the 115th show in our September Shire of Moora News magazine:
