The Get Down events is a monthly showcase for up and coming Hip Hop, Rnb and Soul artists with some very special guest headline acts, DJ's and host emcees, some of which have helped open some doors to the new generation of dope acts. The purpose of these events is to highlight and support the amazing fresh local talent (with various styles) we have all around Melbourne. The Get Down events support

and promote local artists and business's including musicians, visual artists, Photographers, Cinematographer's, clothing labels, food outlets etc.

What’s good, Brunswick? We’re back and louder than ever for THE GET DOWN 23, the next chapter in Melbourne’s freshest hip-hop showcase, presented by The Get Down Events — and this year we’re celebrating *9 years of showcasing dopeness at The Get Down Events*.
Hosted by DEETS & MC WASP, this edition brings together the artists from the latest Get Down Challenge — the ones who stepped up, showed out, and earned their place on stage.
After a massive round of submissions and crowd support, the following artists have risen through and will be hitting the stage live:
ROR, BLEACH, CASS THE WARY, SKITZ, SHYLA MUSIC, JAHSON, SUPER!, MACY, MILKY BAR KID, HASTE ANTONIO, RAIZO DOPE'KID, JAYA LEXXA, SHORTY MIC, DEMPS LAD, DIMMO, and MATT XANDER (BRIS).
Each act is bringing their energy, their people, and their sound — making this more than a showcase. It’s a movement powered by real support for emerging artists.

‼️📣INTRODUCING another DOPE artist performing on SUNDAY THE 27TH OF JULY for The Get Down Challenge live music showcase event ⭐️
➡️'SHORTY MIC' started writing his own music, heavily influenced by West Coast artists such as Tupac, NWA, Ice Cube, Dr Dre and Nate Dogg. He started to develop his own sound which could be likened to be a fusion between West Coast/New York/Detroit  Hip Hop. Other influences in his music are Eminem, Obie Trice, Royce da 5'9 and Twista. Shorty proudly produces and composes his own beats and has completed a bachelor of Music Composition and Production. Shorty Mic has opened for many up and coming Australian and International artists, as well as performing at many Melbourne and regional Victorian Hip Hop shows, including his own headlining shows. He has also toured Asia and gained a solid following. He has also shared the stage and opened for renowned artists such as Madchild, Swollen Members, Obie Trice, Swifty McVay of D12, Dj Unk, Cali Swag District, former Funk Volume artist Dizzy Wright,  Merkules, Perth rapper Complete and most recent Tech N9ne  & Joey Cool just to name a few. DJ Symphony and Rza of world wide known Hip Hop group Wu-Tang also called Shorty Mic directly from California to offer him a spot on the Wu-Nation Aussie Mixtape with his track titled '152 Bar Fight'. DJ Symphony personally chose this song to be the first track on the 2nd Volume of the Mixtape, a spot usually saved for high paying artists looking for exposure. The mixtape has seen over 1,600,000 downloads to date.
