What a week. 😵😱 3 levels, 450m2 & almost 20 years of accumulating, the past 10 days has been like moving house to the power of 1000. But somehow we did it and at midnight last night I handed over the keys to our home away from home, Highlander Bar. And yes there were finally a few tears. 💔😓🙏
A HUGE thank you to & for putting in the long hours & hard yards to gut & polish her by the deadline and to my dad, who was hot on their heels all week (despite being twice their age) and has been there from the signing of the lease to the final closing door.
Big thanks also to the numerous customers/tradies/friends/family that came down to lend a hand and those that sent messages of love & support, I really needed & appreciated them (sorry if I am yet to respond!). From shopping at our garage sale, to carrying a fridge/table/couch down those treacherous stairs, to disconnecting/disassembling furniture & fixtures to wiping/mopping/polishing every well loved surface in there, to sending pos vibes & reminders of all the good memories, I couldn’t have gotten through this difficult stage without each and every one of you. The Highlander Bar may be gone but the Highlander community certainly lives on. ❤️
Happy Friday everyone. I thought I’d be on the other side of a bar somewhere tonight but instead I’m off to bed at a reasonable hour for pretty much the first time ever. Watch this space for our online auction. I’m newly unemployed with a storage cage full of memories for sale. Thanks again, much love to all & goodnight. Slainte!
