๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽฑ CM BRAYBROOK MONTHLY 9-BALL TOURNAMENT IS BACK! ๐ŸŽฑ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Sunday 27/09/2026
๐Ÿ•™ Tournament Starts at 10:00 AM

โธป
๐ŸŒŸ DEVELOPING PLAYER AWARD
The Developing Player Award is designed to recognise the best-performing developing player in the tournament.
It will be awarded to the highest-finishing eligible developing player who does not finish in the Top 4.
Eligibility will generally apply to players with a:
CM Skill Level of 470 or below.
The Tournament Director reserves the right to review eligibility before the tournament begins based on known playing ability, tournament history and available Fargo information.
โธป
๐Ÿ’Ž CM MONTHLY JACKPOT
๐Ÿ’ฐ Starting Jackpot: $100
โ€ข $100 will be added to the CM Monthly Jackpot for every monthly tournament with 24 or more registered players.
โ€ข The jackpot starts at $100 and increases by $100 after each qualified monthly tournament until it is won.
โ€ข If there are fewer than 24 registered players, the existing jackpot will remain and carry over to the next qualified tournament.
โ€ข The jackpot will never decrease until it is won.
๐ŸŽฑ HOW TO WIN THE JACKPOT
A player must legally pocket four (4) or more object balls on the break without scratching or committing any foul.
If more than one player qualifies during the tournament, the jackpot will be shared equally between all qualifying players.
All Tournament Director decisions regarding the jackpot are final.
โธป
๐Ÿ“‹ TOURNAMENT RULES
๐ŸŽฑ Discipline: 9-Ball
โ€ข Double Elimination
โ€ข Winner Breaks
โ€ข Break Box
โ€ข Rack Your Own
โ€ข Three-Foul Rule applies
โ€ข Race-based handicap system
โ€ข All matches use R5 โ€“ Medium Handicap
โ€ข Tournament draw, match scores and handicaps will be managed through Digital Pool
โ€ข The losing player is responsible for the $10 table fee for each match lost
For the Three-Foul Rule, a player must be informed when they are on two consecutive fouls before a third consecutive foul can result in loss of the rack.
โธป
๐ŸŽฏ HANDICAP SYSTEM
The previous 7-ball / 8-ball handicap system will no longer be used.
There are no handicap balls under the new system.
Handicap will now be based entirely on race length, using each player's CM Skill Level.
๐Ÿ”ฅ ALL MATCHES
R5 โ€” Medium Handicap
The same R5 Medium Handicap setting will be used throughout the entire tournament, including both the Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket.
โ“ WHAT DOES R5 MEAN?
R5 does NOT mean everyone races to 5.
Digital Pool compares the Skill Levels of both players and calculates the appropriate race based on the difference between their ratings.
Depending on the Skill Level difference, races may look like:
Similar Skill Levels โ†’ 5โ€“5
Small difference โ†’ 5โ€“4
Larger difference โ†’ 6โ€“4
Very large difference โ†’ 7โ€“3
This allows players of different skill levels to compete in the same tournament without using 7-ball or 8-ball spots.
The objective is not to make every player equal in ability.
The objective is to give players of different levels a reasonable and competitive opportunity to win the match.
โธป
๐Ÿ“Š CM SKILL LEVEL SYSTEM
Players do not need an official Fargo Rating to enter.
CM uses a numerical Skill Level system based on the same general rating scale so that Digital Pool can calculate race handicaps consistently.
Players with an established Fargo Rating
If you already have an established official Fargo Rating, please provide your:
Fargo Rating / Fargo ID
Established Fargo information will generally be used as the primary reference for your CM Skill Level.
Players without an established Fargo Rating
You can still enter.
CM will assign you a provisional CM Skill Level based on available information such as:
โ€ข Known playing ability
โ€ข Previous tournament results
โ€ข Match and rack scores
โ€ข Opponent strength
โ€ข Playing history
โ€ข Overall consistency
Your starting CM Skill Level may then be reviewed as more match data becomes available.
โธป
๐Ÿ“ˆ SKILL LEVEL GUIDE
For players without Fargo, traditional grades may still be used as a starting reference.
For example:
Low G โ‰ˆ 490
Mid G โ‰ˆ 510
High G โ‰ˆ 530
Low H โ‰ˆ 420
Mid H โ‰ˆ 445
High H โ‰ˆ 470
The same concept can be applied across other grades.
However:
Grade is only a starting reference โ€” it is not the final handicap.
Two players who are both considered G Grade, for example, may still have different CM Skill Levels depending on their actual playing ability and tournament history.
โธป
๐Ÿ“ HOW TO REGISTER
When registering, please provide:
Name:
Official Fargo Rating / Fargo ID (if available):
If no Fargo: D / E / F / G / H / I or your approximate playing level
If you are unsure about your grade or Skill Level, that is completely fine.
Simply send us your name and a short description of your playing experience.
The Tournament Director will help assign an appropriate starting CM Skill Level.
โธป
๐Ÿ”„ SKILL LEVEL REVIEW
For players without an established Fargo Rating, CM Skill Levels are provisional.
A player's Skill Level will not automatically increase simply because they win a tournament, and it will not automatically decrease because they lose early.
Skill Levels may be reviewed using:
โ€ข Opponent strength
โ€ข Match scores
โ€ข Rack results
โ€ข Handicap performance
โ€ข Performance over multiple tournaments
โ€ข Previous playing history
โ€ข Overall consistency
One tournament result alone does not necessarily represent a player's true ability.
Most adjustments will normally be made in small increments as more data becomes available.
Larger adjustments may be made when sufficient evidence suggests that a player's original starting level was clearly inaccurate.
Please remember:
A rating increase is not a punishment.
A rating decrease is not a reward.
The purpose of the CM Skill Level is simply to make the handicap reflect each player's actual playing level as accurately as reasonably possible.
As more players build reliable official Fargo data, CM plans to gradually rely more on established Fargo Ratings.
โธป
โš–๏ธ FAIR PLAY & PLAYER CLASSIFICATION
Players are expected to provide honest information about their playing level.
Intentional sandbagging or deliberately misrepresenting playing ability in order to gain an unfair handicap may result in:
โ€ข Immediate Skill Level adjustment
โ€ข Disqualification without refund
โ€ข Possible exclusion from future CM Billiards Club tournaments
However:
One strong match, one Break & Run, or one good tournament result alone will NOT result in automatic disqualification.
The Tournament Director will consider the player's overall demonstrated ability and available playing history.
The Tournament Director reserves the right to review or adjust a player's Skill Level when sufficient evidence suggests the current rating does not accurately reflect their playing ability.
The Tournament Director also reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments to tournament format, race lengths or handicap settings when necessary to maintain fair competition and tournament operation.
All Tournament Director decisions are final.
โธป
โค๏ธ COMMUNITY FIRST
Our goal is to continue growing Melbourne's pool community by creating more opportunities for players of different levels to:
๐ŸŽฑ Compete
๐Ÿ“ˆ Improve
๐Ÿค Gain tournament experience
๐Ÿ”ฅ Challenge stronger players
The CM Skill Level system will continue to develop as we collect more match data.
We appreciate everyone's patience, feedback and understanding as we continue improving the system.
Our goal is simple:
Fair handicap. Competitive matches. Better tournaments. Stronger community. โค๏ธ๐ŸŽฑ
