IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE!!
(It's a lengthy post, but so important!).
Rushworth, Stanhope and surrounding township neighbours...
*** Did you know there's a CURRENT WIND FACTORY PROPOSAL FOR RUSHWORTH/STANHOPE and Nanneella/Timmering? ***
Well, there is. And Fera have NO intention of consulting with Rushworth or Stanhope residents.
At the meeting held on 1 July 2024 at Nanneela Community Hall you could not mistake how COMPLETELY OPPOSED the affected communities are - but all substantiating facts, evidence and objections posed at the 3-hour session by knowledgable and well-prepared residents were ignored and denied by Fera (Fera said such facts and evidence was our "opinion" ... ).
Here are a few facts, as confirmed by Fera:
- Each turbine is up to 250 meters tall, at a cost of $10mil EACH to install (not including the expense to clear the land and build development roads to each turbine).
- Each turbine is constructed on 3.5m-4m deep concrete footings.
- At the end of each turbine's approximate 20 year life span, upon being dismantled, only 1m of the 3.5m-4m deep concrete is removed. The remaining 2.5m-3m of concrete is left in the earth to contaminate crop-yeilding land and inhibiting future tree root growth.
- Only 90% off materials is recyclable. This is not to say Fera ACTUALLY recycles it - imagine the cost! It's far cheaper to dump it in landfill as currently occurs at other wind farms nationally already.
- NO studies assessing the vibrational impact of the turbines. If none exist, there's nothing to say any reason exists for the turbines to cause a vibrational disruption to residents up to 10km and beyond.
As a noise and vibration sensitive person myself, the thought of living with this 24/7 is highly distressing.
- Fera says its' studies of each turbine's noise level (which is NOT the same as vibration) meets EPA standards.
BUT, this fails to consider is the TYPE of noise (as opposed to 'volume' of the noise).
For example, compare the pleasant sound of leaves rustling and birds singing at 45 decibels to your neighbours' annoying, constantly barking dog for hours on end at 45 decibels. Even worse, their three endlessly barking dogs at 45 decibels. And even worse 25 dogs (which is how many turbines Fera intends to erect to begin with)!
Decibel limits may meet EPA requirements, but noise is not simply noise even if it's the same volume.
- Fera wishes to initially erect 25 turbines, and up to 50 accross the two locations (to begin with).
Unfortunately, once Fera gets one foot in the door (thst is, one turbine in the ground) there is no turning back - Fera will only continue squeezing more and more into the region as possible.
- Guess where Fera gets that $10mil per turbine from... you and I - the consumers. They install the wind farms to provide energy to us, for which we pay bills. That is, Fera may pocket the initial bill to install these atrocities, but of course it's not out of good will - Fera is a multi-billion dollar international business for whom we will line their pockets.
- No materials are locally made or sourced. It will all come from China (mostly) and India.
- Trades will be Fera's preferred privately contracted technicians and builders. Don't think for a second they'll 'support local' - for projects of such scale they already know exactly who will do the work, and at what cost.
- Fera says it has not yet commenced the formal application process, but it absolutely intends to, and it is in the millions of dollars.
Only once in Australia has a wind farm application been refused (on the grounds of indigenous land/people ... Fera washed over this very quickly).
Fera is so confident it's application will be approved - a few million dollars is chump change and worth Fera's financial risk with the odds so far in its favour.
SO - WE MUST DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO HINDER THE PROPOSAL PROGRESSING FURTHER!
The permit application completely bypasses the local council level (that is, Campaspe Shire Council). It goes straight to the State and Federal level, and we know what that means ... the outcome is already pre-determined for the worst outcome for our community.
The Nanneella and surrounds community formed a committee to stand opposed to Fera's proposal...
"KNOWT".. please follow the page for updates/meetings.
Please, TALK to friends, family, shop-assistants and community groups about this IMMEDIATELY.
There's only one chance to learn the facts and understand the dire consequences of this proposal - and that time is NOW.
Rushworth & surrounds!
FERA Australia are proposing 25 wind turbines in your area as part of the Koyuga Nanneella Wind Turbine proposal, with another 25 proposed for Koyuga Nanneella. (Along McKenzie Road between bigger towns Echuca and Kyabram).
๐๐ผ You will see below in blue the area that is under investigation.
The full presentation is available on FERAโs website:https://feraaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Koyuga_Nanneella_20240701.pdf
We have created this page to spread awareness far and wide.
A few facts:
โ๏ธThe turbine nacelle will be 120 - 180m high with circa 85m blades. Due to the limited wind resource in our district, the likely outcome is that they will propose to install turbines with a tip height of 265m.
โ๏ธ We will be exposed to nuisance noise and may experience sleep disturbance.
โ๏ธ Our properties will be devalued.
Comment and share. We want to be heard!
