Don’t miss this amazing free art exhibition at the Victorian Pride Centre, inspired by the rich and eccentric history of Labassa, the grand nineteenth‑century mansion in St Kilda East!

Created by long‑time collaborators Gerard O’Connor and Marc Wasiak, Angels and Wolves blends deep historical research with cinematic, large‑scale photographic tableaux that explore the stories, characters and creative energy that have passed through Labassa since the 1860s.

Once a Paris‑filled mansion and later a bohemian boarding house for artists and performers, Labassa’s spirit is captured through a fictionalised 1940s resident who hosted lavish artistic gatherings - a gothic, imaginative tribute to St Kilda’s enduring creativity and character.

Amazing artwork by Scott Marsh!

Scott is one of Australia’s most prolific street artists, often lampooning the seedier side of life and political figures — speaking truth to power, as they say.

But he also does powerful, positive work, and this homage to St Kilda’s favourite musical son, Paul Kelly, on the side of one of St Kilda’s most iconic music venues is bloody marvellous.

What makes it even better now is that he has just completed its companion portrait in Sydney — completing the lyric from Paul Kelly’s beloved song “From St Kilda to Kings Cross”.

Thank you for giving St Kilda this utterly brilliant gift.
