After the success of yesterdays fabulous Fusion on Fitzroy lets get ready to have a great time all over again!

This upcoming Saturday, 12 Sept, Fitzroy Street is throwing a global gastronomic adventure for everyone to enjoy - and there’ll be FREE live music all along the street too!

From 12.30pm to 3.30pm, musicians will be dotted along the street, providing the soundtrack as you make your way between restaurants and sample your way through the world.

Have you ever seen this Fitzroy Street detail?

You may have strolled past if for years without noticing it.

It’s in some disrepair, but beneath the grime is one of the most stylish pieces of Art Deco design in the neighbourhood.

It is the work of architect L Garrard Cahn, on the front doors of “The Boncap”, his smart, flats-above-shops development at 47-49 Fitzroy St, completed in 1935.
Cahn had recently returned to Melbourne after having practiced for two years in New York.
The crisp geometry of his brickwork and handsome architectural metalwork suggests he may have picked up a thing or two in the Big Apple.

We’re told that there are several still intact flats upstairs (some of them tiny ‘bachelor pads’) with intact kitchens, bathrooms and steel frame windows.

Want to start Fusion on Fitzroy Street with a little swing this Saturday? 🎶

Kick things off at Pyramid Bar & Restaurant at 12pm with a FREE Swing Patrol dance class and live demonstration!
It’s the perfect warm-up to learn a few steps and catch the rhythm before the music kicks into high gear.

Once you’ve got your groove, you’ll be ready to hit the dance floor right as the Mich Mash Mummas take the stage at 1pm.

From there, the whole precinct comes alive!

With 19 venues hosting free live music, you can take your new moves on the road -wandering between stages, discovering incredible bands, and dropping into local dining spots all afternoon and evening.
