Unfortunately Traffic Controllers encountered abusive and dangerous situations all the time at work because people don't simply take notice of their surroundings. Most are distracted or simply just don't care.
Using your cars indicator will help us direct you to the safest destination as we don't know where you are going.
Our job is to make everyone's lives safer.
When you approach a work zone things are going on or about to happen. We are there for your safety. We are there incase the worst scenario happens or to prevent it from happening.
Our job involves so many different situations. Sometimes people show us the most beautiful side of humanity to absolute disgraceful attitudes and actions no one should have to put up with at work.
TC's are here to keep the contracts safe from the public so they are able to do their job.
The only thing keeping TC"s safe from everyone else are the signs we put out and take down after our shift. The traffic cones and the stop/slow bat we hold are to help you. TC's 2-way communication between each other and the contractors who are coming into the work zone.
So please be mindful we all want to go home at the end of the shift with out any incidents.
This is what you do when you get to ROAD WORKS
Apparently this is hard for some people to understand so to make it as simple as possible.
RED means STOP
YELLOW means GO SLOW.
The little black stick in your car with arrows on it is called an indicator it tells people where you want to turn.
We don't stop your car for the sake of it it's either because there are machines on the road or it is not currently safe for you to drive through. Trust me we don't want to stand there and stare at you for 12 hours a day for fun.
No you can not drive around us and speeding off once we put you on slow only makes you look like a do**he bag. You can also get a $1500 fine for not listening to a traffic controllers instructions so keep that in mind.
We don't want to stop you just as much as you don't want us to stop you so there is absolutely no need to scream swear and carry on when we do. We are protecting yourself and the workers on site.
Now back to the indicator we do need to know where you are turning to so we can send you as soon as possible. Instead of tagging you on to traffic heading the same way you want to go we will hold you until all other traffic is clear because you haven't indicated to show us where you want to go. So you will end up waiting longer.
It's also not that hard to smile and wave to a traffic controller when they let you through.
