Steve Sedergreen has spent decades as a fixture of Melbourne jazz — not just as a pianist and arranger, but as a bandleader, educator and mentor.

At Bird’s Basement, he brings together James Clark, Rod Gilbert, Jacki Gaudion, Ash Gaudion and Toby Mak, with special guest George Washingmachine on violin.

Seven musicians with serious history between them, playing jazz the way it works best: collectively and in the moment.

Don’t miss an unforgettable intimate night of raw emotion, fire, and soul as two extraordinary visiting artists from Andalusia, the cradle of flamenco in southern Spain, bring the true spirit of this deeply rooted art form to life.

At the heart of the evening is guitar virtuoso Paco Lara, one of the leading Spanish flamenco artists in Australia. Born in Jerez de la Frontera—the birthplace of flamenco—he carries the depth, tradition, and intensity of pure Andalusian expression in every note he plays.

Joining him is the passionate Spanish dancer Deya Miranda, who embodies flamenco in its most expressive form. Through movement filled with emotion, strength, and vulnerability, she transforms the stage into a living story.

Together at Bird’s Basement, they unveil a flamenco journey of love, tension, and longing—where guitar and dance unfold through rhythm, silence, fire, and breath.

A rare encounter. A pure flamenco experience. A night where music and movement become one.

Ray Charles never stayed in one lane. Gospel, blues, jazz, country and soul all became part of the same musical language.

Andrew Swann and the Melbourne Jazz Collective revisit that songbook with an eight-piece lineup featuring piano, guitars and a four-piece horn section.

Not an imitation, but a swinging interpretation of one of the most influential catalogues in American music.

The Hammond organ has a long history in soul-jazz. Jake Mason Trio isn’t interested in simply recreating it.

On The Modern Ark, Mason, guitarist James Sherlock and drummer Danny Fischer take the warmth and groove of the classic organ trio and push it somewhere contemporary.

Recorded live to tape in Melbourne, the album moves between deep pocket, improvisation and analogue grit without losing sight of the song.

Old machinery. New ideas.
