We had Matts GU patrol in this week for a 98 octane calibration and engine break in.
We got started with a base file and Quickly found the car had a minor vacuum leak.
After rectifying the vac leak and double checking the wastegate actuator preload we got to work running the engine in while dialing in the tune.
Matts goal is to engineer the car so we kept the tune emissions compliant, this did however make things a little tricky as the car has a euro 6 cat fitted which ended up being a very large exhaust restriction so power was severely limited.
The car is fitted with the following,
•Built engine
•Bosch 1150s
•Head studs
•Valve springs
•Oil pump gears
•Garret gtx3582
•IWG75
•Water to air intercooler
•3.5" dump & mid section to 3" tail pipe
•S.P 98 calibration
After an oil change we started to dial in the wide open throttle portion and ended up with a best of 166kw.
With boost and power both rolling over very early and knock just starting to creep in, we were not game to lean on the engine whatsoever.
Once the car has been engineered, the cat will be replaced with a 100 cell item and we can start to wind some boost in it.
We also struggled with the water to air intercooler as the inlet air temp lived between 55-70deg.
We gave Matt a list of a few little things that need attention before the car comes back for some more power.
All in all it was a very successful day, and all the credit goes to Matt for putting together a very solid car.
Keep an eye out for when this thing makes a return and really cranks out some numbers.
