In case you needed an excuse to pencil in time for a triple-feature rewatch of The Castle, Muriel’s Wedding and Pricilla this week, Amy’s Trivia is mixing things up with a night of head-scratchers dedicated to the best of Aussie cinema.

Monday 22 June. Trivia will kick off at 7pm, as it does every Monday at the Leisure Centre. Free to play, but bookings are encouraged. A reservation can be made at the link in bio.

In the meantime, Amy’s Trivia is back tonight if you’re looking to test your general knowledge over some chilli prawn wantons.

Much like ‘our Nicole’ or bushranger Ned, this velvety ale’s got an Irish streek to it. This style of beer originated in an Irish monastery, so the brewers took a vow of silence while they were whipping it up. As a result, it’s been delivered weeks ahead of time.

Bonza long weekend coming up at the Leisure Centre.

We’re running our Henson Park promotion back with another afternoon of footy fan discounts. Wear a piece of Newtown Jets merch to Leisure HQ before heading to watch the Bluebags take on the Dragons, and we’ll give you 20% off your bill. The offer is strictly available before the game this weekend. 11am until 3pm on Saturday 6 May.

Sunday, we’ve got Yum Cha at the Lucky Prawn hosted by the incredible Jackie Daniels. Nothing better than a long weekend yum cha knowing you can enjoy a Marrickville Marg or two without having to be on site the next day.

Big game coming up at Henson this weekend. The Bluebags are taking on Manly. We thought we’d sweeten the deal and encourage a full day out in god’s country (Marrickville) by offering a little footy fans discount.

Roll into the Leisure Centre before kickoff sporting your finest piece of Jets merch, and get 20% off your bill. Simple as that. The deal is available from open (11am) until the ref blows time on (3pm).

We’re taking peak leisure outside. Introducing: The Backyard at The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre.

The sizzle of the barbie. The clap of a cheap plastic cricket bat. The family-sized sunscreen and the mozzie zapper hard at work. We’ve tried to capture a little bit of that and bottle it into our new beer garden.

Open seven days a week. No bookings, walk-ins only. Enjoy a cold schooner out under the gumtree.

We’re open for good beer, good leisure, Chinese meals and takeaway tinnies all weekend. That includes takeaway beers on Good Friday, in case you forgot to stock up the fridge and wake up with the bottle-o closed.

On Easter Sunday, the Lucky Prawn is hosting its monthly Yum Cha. Host Jackie Daniels is taking a well-deserved break over the long weekend, but we’re lucky enough to have taking the reins.

Our ode to the great southern land of brews, fighting kangaroos and Glebe’s short-lived first grade team, the mighty Red IPA is back. If you’re suss about drinking a red beer, it’s more of a rich auburn. More Isla Fisher than Redhead matches.

Have at it. Pouring in tropical Far North Marrickville as we speak.

From the brewer’s mouth:
Jabs of cherry and berry with an uppercut of pine, before finishing you off with toasty toffee notes. Just enough bitterness to wipe the slate clean and bring you back for another round.
