The Mason Rack Band rolls in from 7pm and if you have seen them before, you already know it is not a quiet night.

Big guitar, proper rhythm section, and a sound that tends to pull people a bit closer to the stage as the night goes on.

Dinner beforehand is not a bad idea, because once they kick off, most people are not going anywhere.

This one leans into the food just as much as the whisky.

It starts light. Cured ocean trout, citrus, a bit of freshness to ease you in. Then it builds. Black pudding, serrano ham, richer flavours that start to settle in.

By the time the scotch egg and the beef short rib hit the table, things have definitely shifted. Deeper, slower, the kind of dishes you take your time with.

Then it rounds out with something a little brighter to finish.

Each course paired alongside a whisky that changes the way it all comes together.

Game II next week, live and loud, with a couple of extras running on the night.

$30 gets you a jug of ###X Gold or Tooheys New with a meat lovers pizza, which usually ends up being the easy decision once the game starts.
