💥 HOLE IN ONE ALERT! ⛳
Some say it takes years of practice. Others say it’s pure luck… we’ll let you decide! 😜
A huge congratulations to our Club Captain, Ali Reynolds, who today aced the 14th hole with a sensational hole in one! 👏🏌️‍♂️
Safe to say the bar stories tonight have already written themselves. 🍻 Congratulations, Ali!

PRESIDENTS CUP REPORT 2026

The SWGA Presidents Cup was held at The Sands Golf Club in Torquay yesterday and our team of six headed off at 6.30am to make the 8.00am shotgun start!

Our men’s pairing of Club Captain Ali Reynolds and club stalwart David Wyles had a rough start to the day, compiling a run of double bogeys, but they turned it around and came home strong to end up 1 under on the last 5 holes!

The ladies pairing of Rose Lloyd and Sally Young were off to a great start and were cruising along quite nicely until disaster struck on the 10th and ruined any chance of finishing high in the field! However, they did regroup and came home with a 42 on the back 9!

The biggest news of the day came from the mixed pairing of Danni DeBon and Martin Gilbert who had an amazing day out, combining so well that they just missed out on winning their division by a single point!

The President’s Cup was won by the host club The Sands with 224 nett.

This is always a fun day and this year was no exception. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and many stories were exchanged – the good, the bad and the ugly, which is all part of the challenge of foursomes golf!

A great variety of raffle prizes were provided; unfortunately, we didn’t win any of those either!

All proceeds go towards the Geelong Community Foundation.

We can’t wait until next year! ⛳️🏌🏽

Congratulations to Rose Lloyd, our June Monthly Medal winner with a fantastic score of +1! 🏅⛳

Rose was closely followed by Sally Young, making it a tightly contested event.

Well played to both ladies, and congratulations to everyone who took part! 👏

Tina Walker tackling one of the biggest challenges on the course… the famous Gallipoli bunker at Club Barham! 😄⛳

Often claimed to be the biggest bunker in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s a sight to behold—and an even bigger challenge to escape from!

Safe to say Tina gave it her best shot! 👏🏌️‍♀️

Another fantastic annual golf trip to CluBarham is in the books! ⛳️

28 members enjoyed two great days of golf, beautiful weather, great food, plenty of laughs and wonderful camaraderie, making it another memorable getaway.🏌️

Day 1 saw the Happy Gilmore team of Bronwyn Halpin, Sue Neill, Ken Hosking and Rod Stewart take out the Team Ambrose event. 🏆

Day 2 featured an Individual Stableford, with Tina Walker winning the Ladies’ event on 36 points, while John Higgins claimed the Men’s title with 33 points. 🥇

This year also saw the introduction of some fun new awards, including the Hotty Award, Dora the Explorer Award, and I Need a Magnifying Glass Award. Want to know what they were for? You’ll just have to come along next year to find out! 😉

Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who helped make the trip such a great success. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Here’s some happy snaps from the trip

In the Ladies 9-Hole Competition, Rose Lloyd was the winner with 18 points on a countback from Chris Angus, while Bronwyn Halpin won the NTP.
