Originally built as a mill house in 1825 on the banks of the Isis River, Kings Bridge Bar and Restaurant has enjoyed a colourful history as one of the oldest buildings in Launceston. Its Georgian cobblestone walls and rustic interior complete with open fireplace takes you back to a bygone era. The building stands as testimony to its founder Andrew Gatenby, an early pioneer of Van Diemen’s Land. Arriving with his young family in 1823, they settled on a parcel of land on the Isis River, then known as Penny Royal Creek. Kings Bridge Bar and Restaurant ‘s old world charm and handy location close to Cataract George and Launceston’s CBD makes it an ideal place to stop and refresh yourself with a cold pint or something from our eclectic menu.
