PARKLAND WOMEN:

Tuesday 9th June was a Stableford event and was generously sponsored by Terry White Pharmacy. With a shower of rain falling prior to play, followed by bitterly cold winds, it was a smaller field than normal with just 25 women braving the conditions. The course was at it best but obviously as indicated by the results was not an easy one to play.

Pam Spokes off a 26 h/cap and with a score of 33 points was the winner of Division 1 followed by Rosemary Britton (25) as r/up with 31 points after a c/back from Rhonda Cox with the same score who featured in the ball competition.

Lyn Bailey (35) took the top honours in Division 2 with 33 points after a c/back from Jan Gentle (29) as runner up also with 33 points.

Ball Recipients were Rhonda Cox 31, Pauline Laidlaw 30, Kathy Fanning 29 and Susie Bennett 29.

Rosemary Britton won nearest the pin on the first while Heather Gunstone grabbed the Jackpot on the eighteenth with her second shot. No one claimed the Firstea Voucher on the sixth.

KYABRAM PARKLAND GOLF CLUB MONDAY RESULTS June 8th 2026

It was back to some normality on Monday with 56 players in the field for the Medley. Mick Sullivan was the Division one winner with 36 points after a countback from Jacob Cartwright who was second. Third went to Ray Falla with 35 points. Division two went to Vin Sleeth with 33 points. Mitchell Smith was second with 32 points after a countback from Greg Woods who was third. The play of the day went to Jake Plumb in Division three. Jake finished with 39 points for a win. Runnerup was Lois Pope with 35 points while Kathy Bell was third with also 35 points. Ball winners were Greg Ryan, David Cartwright, Steve Grills, Mick Crompton, Geraldine Prendergast, Rhonda Cox, Scott McLennan, Pauline Laidlaw and
Ron Pope. Nearest the pins went to Rick Walsh on the 1st, Roger Gillon on the 9th, James Campbell on the 18th while Joshua Cartwright was nearest on the 6th for the voucher from Firstea cafe

Young Gun Wins Par 3 Championship.

Twenty year old D’Arcy Whyte who is home on holidays from College in the States turned up trumps to win the Victorian Par Three Championship held at Kyabram Parkland Golf Club on Sunday. A member of Commonwealth Golf Club and Rich River D’Arcy was also a junior particpant at Parkland learning the skills some years ago. Runnerup was last year’s winner Steven Slappendel from Horizons Golf Resorts who also has local connections. Whyte compiled rounds of 56,57 and 58 for a total of 171. Starting the final round 1 a head of Rich River local Hunter Reid - Darcy announced his intentions with a starting birdie and 9 holes of 27. Then he slipped a couple of Bogeys in the back nine early to enable Slappendel to start a comback. Slappendel finishing with 61,57and 56 for a total of 174 to be runnerup after a countback from Hunter Reid. Slappendel was five shots behind Whyte overnight while 7 up at the turn on Sunday. However Slappendel charged home with par for the last nine while Whyte managed four over 31 to claim victory by three. The 54 hole Gross winner was Hunter Reid Commonwealth/Rich River 174. The net winner was Nathan Todd Randwick 174. The 54 hole Gross Senior winner was Stephen Valentine Kew with 177. The 54 hole net A Grade winner was Stephen Valentine Kew 171. B Grade Minjun Ji Southern 175. C Grade Phillip Barling Garfield 168. 54 hole A Grade runnerup Hunter Reid Commonwealth 171. B Grade went to Warwick Marcakis Gardiners Run 176. C Grade was won by Nathan Todd Ringwood

The team’s event went to Mick Crompton, Kane Burt and Aaron Baker Parkland 170. The event was supported by The Kyabram Club. President Geoff Berry addressed the gathering thanking the volunteers for their support over the past two weeks. There were 55 clubs involved in event with 50 players under 10 handicap. 2027 plans are underway with the Par 3 Championship celebrating 21 yrs.
