The Joker Pokers – Live Tonight!

Kuranda, the deck is heating up at The Jungle Perch with The Joker Pokers bringing their wild energy and killer tunes. Music kicks off from 7PM. Kitchen will be serving burgers, steaks, pizzas & more till 9PM. Bar open till late with ice cold beers, cheeky cocktails, good vibes only

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any hotter… Frazer the wild Scotsman is strapping on his banjo, be aware, word is the kilt’s might be coming out too. Let’s just say, the breeze may reveal more than his chords. 😉 We might even need to put a leash on him so he doesn’t fall off the perch… at least that way we can pull him back up, just like a teabag, and we all know how the Scots love their tea. Alex will be coming in hot as always, he might be be able to take a good snap of your house by day, but tonight he’s snapping hearts instead of houses and tickling the ivories like nobody else in FNQ. Careful, he’s got the angles and the fingers to match. Thank god for Will on the drums, the only man keeping these two in check. He’s got the vibe, the rhythm, and just enough chill to stop the whole deck from combusting.

TONIGHTAH!!!!!!! – TRUE NORTH BOOGIE BAND LIVE @ THE JUNGLE PERCH
Raw blues, tight grooves, and no-nonsense boogie rock

Kuranda buckle-up, you’re in for a belter.

The True North Boogie Band is rolling in!!! This four-piece blues-rock wrecking crew from Cairns that’s been lighting up FNQ stages with their signature brand of gritty, riff-heavy boogie. Since forming in early 2023, they’ve played nearly 100 shows and built a rep as one of the region’s hardest-hitting live bands.

Expect face-melting guitar solos, wailing harmonica, and a rhythm section tighter than a new pair of RM Williams. Their setlist is a freight train of classics from ZZ Top, Chain, Canned Heat, and a few fiery originals like Electric Highway and Besser Block Blues, because nothing says Aussie blues like naming a song after bricks.

A bit about the boys:

Michael Conolan – Lead guitar & vocals
The driving force behind the band’s original songs (Electric Highway, Enough is Enough, Besser Block Blues) and a certified tone wizard. Conolan’s solos are tight, tasty, and totally unhinged, in the best possible way.

Steve “Harpo” – Harmonica & vocals
The man with lungs of steel and a harp that howls like a cyclone. Harpo’s blues chops are matched only by his stage energy. This guy doesn’t play harmonica, he wrestles it into submission.

Greg Trennery – Bass
Holding down the low end like a brick wall. Trennery’s grooves are the spine of the band’s sound, heavy, head-nodding, and built for boogie.

Tim James Edwards – Drums
The timekeeper. The engine room. The pocket. Tim brings the thunder, the shuffle, and the swing to every beat, making sure hips keep shaking all night long.

The band hits the stage at 8PM, delivering the boogie while our kitchen serves up burgers, steaks, pizzas, fish & chips, and much more until 9:30PM. The bar’s open till late with ice-cold beers, cheeky cocktails, and that signature Jungle Perch magic.

Roll in early for Happy Hour from 6–7PM, we’re pouring drink specials, wines, and cocktails with your name on them. Come for the boogie, stay for the beers. No cover, no excuses, just the best blues-rock band in FNQ lighting up the deck. It’s all going down at The Jungle Perch, on the deck behind Birdwing Café. Booty-shaking is absolutely mandatory. Karaoke Night with Rockin’ Rick – This Friday at The Jungle Perch!

Kuranda, brace yourselves!!! The Jungle Perch is getting invaded by a Canuck. Yep, Rockin’ Rick is rolling in with his karaoke setup. Friday night, the deck gets handed over to a man who reckons he’s got Kuranda entertainment stitched up, the one, the only, Rockin’ Rick. He’s Canadian, so don’t be surprised if he slips a Bryan Adams ballad into the mix and says sorry after every song. We’ll forgive him though, because he’s bringing a karaoke arsenal of over 450,000 songs and a light show flashier than a Pink Floyd concert.

Now, we’ll give him this, the amazing sound system on our deck came from Rick himself. Rick smuggled this glorious system into Australia that now proudly delivers all the entertainment at The Perch. Honestly, it’s probably the only decent thing Canada’s ever exported, well, that and maple syrup. At least when you’re butchering Khe Sanh into the mic, you’ll sound bloody brilliant doing it.

Rick’s a one-man circus, singer, DJ, MC, photographer, electric scooter rider, marathon runner, karaoke king, and occasional lumberjack. He’ll be running the show, cracking jokes, and snapping pics of your best and worst vocal moments. Just don’t be shocked if he sneaks in Shania, but that don’t impressa-me-much he may also demands a round of applause for Celine Dion, but not to worry it’s a Canadian thing. And if you catch him looking sad at the bar, it’s probably because the Edmonton Oilers blew another playoff run. ;-)

So leave the moose at home, trade your hockey stick for a schooner, and get yourself to The Jungle Perch this Friday, 22 August. Rick will be kicking this off at 7pm, Entry’s free, the beer’s colder than a Canadian winter, and the only poutine on offer will be if someone sings badly enough to deserve punishment.

Let’s show our maple-leaf mate how Kuranda does karaoke, loud, rowdy, and gloriously off-key.

The Jungle Perch is turning Blissful...

Brisbane-based songstress Candice Bliss returns to her FNQ roots for a dreamy evening set under the stars. Imagine Norah Jones got lost in the rainforest and found her groove, earthy, soulful, and soaked in feeling.

A seasoned performer with over a decade on the live circuit and a voice that stops you in your tracks. Originally from Ingham, then based in Brisbane, she’s shared stages with some of Australia’s best and earned her stripes at major festivals like Woodford Folk Festival, Gympie Muster, Easterfest, Urban Country, and Caxton Street Festival.

She’s been crowned Best Female Vocalist in Queensland at the Entertainment Awards, won the Brisbane Acoustic in the Park songwriting showcase, and featured on Triple J Unearthed. You might’ve even caught her on Channel Nine’s Today Show. When she’s not playing at home, she’s toured internationally, from Vancouver to Nashville, bringing her soulful blend of folk, blues, and roots to crowds around the world.

Her tunes are raw, warm, and honest, like a late-night yarn by the fire. Originals with heart, covers with soul, and that special something that makes you put your phone down and actually listen.

She’s played pubs, paddocks, packed-out tents and everything in between, and this Friday, she’s bringing that same magic to the deck of The Jungle Perch.

THANK YOU – THE WALKER BROTHERS

What. A. Night!!!
Huge thank you to The Walker Brothers for absolutely smashing it on stage at The Jungle Perch! The boys were tight, soulful, and gave it their all, and the local mob felt every second of it. The love in the crowd was real, and the appreciation was flowing.

To all the local legends who packed the deck, sang along, and backed live local music like the champions that they are, we see you, we salute you, and we bloody love you for it. You mob showed up, turned it on, and looked like dead set Kuranda royalty. Dressed to the nines, on your best behaviour (well, mostly except for Damian & Collin 😉 you know who you are), it was an absolute pleasure to have you all in the venue. Massive love love and endless thanks to everyone there, nights like that don’t happen without people like you.

Now, let’s not forget…
The Broncos absolutely dominated with a landslide win over the Rabbitohs, turning an already brilliant night into a full-blown celebration.

Big ups to the absolute weapons behind the bar and in the kitchen who kept The Jungle Perch humming all night. Lizzy & Levi serving drinks with speed, style, and minimal spillage. If bartending was an Olympic sport, these two would be competing against each other for a spot on the podium. My boys Luca, Flynn & Jaydon dishing out hot deliciousness from the kitchen like it was a MasterChef finale. No one went hungry, and the food-to-smile ratio was off the charts. You lot ran a tighter operation than a Swiss watch, and we all bloody love you for it.

Special shoutout to Rockin’ Rick Moyer, who literally lit up the venue with his magic touch, transforming The Perch into a glowing rainforest wonderland. And just when you thought that was enough… He went and laid down a phenomenal performance on the harp to sprinkle a little extra sparkle over the night. Honestly, what can’t this man do? Light tech, stage design, musical wizardry, emotional support animal, karaoke host-extraordinaire, can someone check if he’s actually human.

Kuranda we put it on, you turned it on. The Perch is your place, your stage, your own jungle playground.

Let’s do it again real soon.

Last night was something special...

A massive thank you to the incredible JC Stylles, Nikki Doll, and the stellar band that absolutely lit up The Jungle Perch with world-class jazz and soul. What a treat to have such immense talent grace our little rainforest stage.

To all of you who came along, thank you for creating such a beautiful vibe, a warm energy, and a truly unforgettable night under the canopy. You brought the magic.
