Qld Bulls Masters to join Over 40 Cricketers in May 2015
After the success of the Over 40T20 Challenge in 2014, the organizing committee is delighted to reveal that the 2015 Over40T20 Challenge dates are set for the weekend 1st to 3rd of May. The committee is also pleased to announce that it has delivered on its promise to make the 2015 event bigger and better than 2014 and provide another unforg
ettable experience for all involved. Children can again look forward to a return of Queensland Cricket hosted clinics. As an exciting extra in 2015 they will be joined by special guests Jimmy Maher, Andrew Symonds and Greg Ritchie from the Queensland Bulls Masters who will assist in hosting open, free clinics with plenty of fun fast paced games and enjoyable activities catering for both boys and girls who wish to participate. The involvement of the Queensland Bulls Masters is not limited to our junior clinics. Players, families, friends and supporters can enjoy the company of the past playing legends as they join us for the weekend at Butler Park and provide guest speakers for the meet and greet on Friday night on 1st May at Trebonne Hotel. The competition will see some beneficial alterations to the 2014 format with the introduction of an additional two teams to make a 10 team competition. The modified concept to the 2014 model of the Over 40T20 Challenge will see 10 teams of 13 players drawn randomly into the weekend draw. Each team will play a total of 4 modified Twenty20 matches with the overall winners being decided by most wins and net run rate (if required). In 2015, teams will be competing for over $12000 in major prizes, performance awards, and for the first time players will vie for individual selection into an Honorary Herbert River Over40 Representative side. As part of the fantastic major prize list, the weekend competition winners will be rewarded with a major prize which includes 2 nights’ accommodation with return airfares from Townsville to Brisbane to watch a Brisbane Heat Gabba home game in the 2015/ 2016 Big Bash Competition. A random draw of the remaining nine nominated teams will decide the winners of the second prize of a fully hosted BBQ for the team players and families while they have the pleasure of being personally entertained by 2 Queensland Bulls Masters legends in the winners very own home. Organizers have again designed the Over40T20 Challenge to foster local community spirit and with this in mind the 2015 criteria to be eligible to participate will continue as it was in 2014. Players must already be over 40 years of age or turn 40 in 2015 and must either currently reside in the Ingham District 4850 post-code or have lived within the 4850 post-code at some stage of their lives for 3 years or more. Team nomination forms can be collected from Steven Carrara at L&W Repairs and once completed, can be returned with payment during business hours. Nominations will officially open at 9am on Monday 9th February and close on Friday 20th February at 3pm. Organizers will only accept the first 10 fully paid nominations to play in the event. Team nominations are $1300 ($100 per player) and every player will receive a playing team shirt, hat, and merchandise item commemorating the event and nominations will include ball fees as teams compete to be the winners of the major prizes. Teams wishing to participate are advised to act quickly to ensure their nominations are accepted in the Over40T20 Challenge as organizers expect positions to fill quickly.
