Every New Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginnings End
After Seven years in Illawong. Spada’s last day will be Sunday 19th December.
It has been a roller coaster of emotions since the day we decided to open up a restaurant and work for ourselves. How hard could it be right?
Whilst it hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows….. throw in a legal battle with the old landlord, a couple of covid years……I can honestly say that I have enjoyed getting to know the locals and the extended community and coming to work offering up a product and service that we are proud of.
I wish we could have announced our plans a little sooner, but there were a few boxes to tick off and some things that took a little longer in the background to get sorted.
To my family for always supporting my dream and helping out whenever, wherever & however they could… Thank you.
Thanks to Hannah and Teddy, for running down the restaurant and giving the best hugs. To Kate for being a single mother 5 nights a week ,putting up with all the s**t that I put you through over the last seven years and still being my number one supporter.
To all the staff that have worked at Spada, whether it be in the kitchen, on the phones, making pizzas or providing amazing service, you are the reason that kept the customers coming back. It has been humbling to have staff work for me for extended periods of time, 3, 4, 5 years and beyond. Watching teenagers become young adults, brothers and sisters work together, all happy to come to come to Spada and treat it like more than just a job.
Two people deserve their own special mention, Nick and Nicola. Both Originals since day 1. Even though Nick got one of those “real jobs” he still is here every Sat night, running the floor and being awesome. Then there is Nicola, someone I definitely could not have done this journey without. 99.75% of all your meals that have left the kitchen… Nicola has cooked them. (She took a few weeks off to get married to Nick – hence the minus %... Outrage I know) Her dedication to Spada and ability to produce a quality & consistent product has been the backbone of what we do. Thank you.
Finally to the customers of 2234 and beyond. You came in as strangers, left as friends & came back as family. I have met so many great people over the years, and whether it is a simple wave or ‘hey Dave’ when you pick up a pizza or a good chat at the dinner table, it has been a pleasure to get to know each one of you. Thank you for all your support & friendship.
Cheers & Much Love ❤️
