Long time no see!

We’ve been waiting to find a cat cafe that followed our ethos - giving the cats an escape room, attentive staff creating an experience for the customers and the cats - and whilst unfortunately council laws won’t allow them to recreate the full cafe experience Cashmere Cat Cafe on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne are the best cat friendly cafe we’ve experienced!

Five out of five claws!

You might be surprised to learn that Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary has been desexing shelter cats as part of our Feline Fix conservation initiative since November 2023. In that time, we have desexed 900 cats, which have been adopted into families committed to keeping them safely indoors and away from our precious wildlife.

Due to the success of this program, we are delighted to announce that we will be offering discounted desexing services to eligible members of the public on a limited basis.

To find out if you're eligible for discounted desexing, complete the Expression of Interest form by following the link below and remember, a desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and contained cat is a SAFE cat!

Half a decade ago today our gorgeous Lettuce passed away due to kidney failure. Never has five years felt so quick and so long. We still remember her little balloon meow and being Sarah’s shadow. And that tail! 😍😍😍

We miss you forever Lettie and are so happy to have been part of your life.

X

We are absolutely heartbroken to have to write that yesterday our gorgeous Lettuce went into total kidney failure. She spent the night at the after hours emergency vets where unfortunately her condition deteriorated before her health plummeted this afternoon. She was put to sleep a little after four this afternoon with Sarah by her side.

We want to thank the wonderful vets and staff at AHVEC - After hours veterinary emergency centre. for making her comfortable to the end and keeping us informed of her progress last night and today. We'd also love to thank everyone at North Hobart Veterinary Hospital, especially Dr Jen, for giving her everything they had in February and letting us have a few more months with her and Erin for keeping her in cuddles whilst she was on her drip! Also to Abby from RSPCA Tasmania when they had the Mornington Shelter for bringing her into our lives.

And of course to all you guys who have come in over the last three years and told her how special she is, marveled at her beautiful eyes and floofy tail and made it possible for us to get her the very best care and give her every chance we could.

Finally a very heartfelt and deserved paragraph to Sarah, Larissa and Israel who have been the most incredible cat mothers a cat could have. Your dedication to and perseverance with Lettie (and the other guys) is nothing short of amazing - the countless hours of wrestling with the drips to give her fluids, the uncountable needle stick injuries and scratches she helped you with and your patience and tears when she wouldn't have a bar of it. On behalf of Lettie thank you so much for doing everything you could.

We probably won't be too responsive to comments on this post initially for obvious reasons but we will read everything and in advance thank you for your support, sympathy and shared grief.

Bye Lettie, we love you. X.

Hi all! Long time no see!

Some of our lovely friends might benefit from this…

Tasmania's 10 Lives Cat Centre has introduced 'Meow Meals', a program providing two weeks' worth of free cat food packages to owners experiencing financial difficulties.

The organisation hopes the programme will prevent around 300 cats from being surrendered in Tasmania, saying no one should have to lose their pet because of hardships.

They say all people need to do is "come and ask" for a pack, with "no questions asked".

OMG! We’ve officially cleared out the cafe (well nearly - we still have a cake fridge and cash register to sell on - but they’ll go to auction if we can’t move them over the weekend) with the last load of furniture delivered to ours this afternoon! Sarah gets a sleep in tomorrow and then we have to rearrange our place to fit a cafes worth of books, desks and bits and bobs…!

Congratulations to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for Project Recap showing how much Tasmania appreciates the work they do for our amazing wildlife!

Even though Project Recap is over as a fundraiser you can always still donate, go visit, slow down at night, check pouches if you unfortunately hit a marsupial and call them on 0447 264 625 for any wildlife emergencies. This includes cat attacks! They won’t judge you - they’re just interested in helping out the animals!

Project RECAP - WHAT a ride this fundraiser has been. I don't know if these devils are just bored at this stage, and yawning or screaming support! There is literally 28 mins left to donate to this crucial project. It finishes at 11pm tassie time. This will be my last update and plea to you all!!! Tomorrow, once we add in any bank transfers from tonight, I have many thanks to share and will give a final update on where we landed. $417k is where we sit with 30 minutes to go, 1207 donors, and doubled of course from our generous donor - that is $834k!
So this is the last chance for some limited edition RECAP merchandise, a room with your name on it, some passes for a visit, or a great idea to donate in someone's name for Christmas.
Thanks SO MUCH everyone - this is weirdly sad as the last post and it feels like I am leaving a family. BIG thanks for making this everything it has been to all of you from the Bonorong team. If you still wish to donate in the future to this crucial build, please email us on [email protected] - and for the final time - here is the link to donate - https://www.pozible.com/profile/project-recap
