Captain Blighs

Captain Blighs Monthly Tasting Bar third Friday of every month. Colonial Ale produced as it was under the Colonial laws of the 1800's. Malt, hops, yeast and water. How easy?

British Empire purity laws of four ingredients. All produce has to be grown locally. Great Barley, Premium Hops and water that's the envy of the world right on the doorstep. This is what makes a great Ale. Tasmania's rich apple growing history dates back to 1788, when Captain William Bligh planted Australia's first apple tree at Adventure Bay, Bruny Island. Using produce sourced from this very region, Captain Blighs sets out to produce heritage cider, using 100% Tasmanian apples. Argh

Love working with these guys. Exciting times ahead.

Great to have Emma and Robbie in yesterday. Friends for a long time and now a chance to collaborate with their amazing products.

Over 200 years ago, William Bligh crossed paths with the founder of Derwent Distillery, Rowland Walpole Loane, along the River Derwent. Trading grain, provisions, and spirits.

Fast forward to today, and that spirit of collaboration is alive and well. We spent the morning with one of our favourite humans Steve from tasting beers, swapping notes, and enjoying a proper good chin wag.

We’ve come away with some seriously exciting beer casks… and we can’t wait to see what unfolds from here. Watch this space…

Yep! It will be great!

Back to the future! Stride Wide was one of the first beers we brewed. We wanted a proper Australian Lager. One that was familiar to the oldies. I remember 45 years ago tasting a beautiful beer- yep a Crown Lager when it was still brewed with just the 4 ingredients and well before the accountants and the International owners buggered it up 😆. That living memory- that’s what we wanted. So after resting this line for a while, we felt a tweak or two was in order, and couldn’t be happier with the result. Big nostalgia tears 👀. You bloody beauty! Come up to our MAY MONTHLY TASTING BAR and give it a go.

These legends are back!! Dom and the crew have jumped back in after a cancellation to our previously advertised food truck. How good is that? We really appreciate the work our foodies do at our events, and it’s great to see our customers digging in. Support local hard working businesses!
