As we prepare to turn off the lights at Observatory Bar for the final time this Saturday, we’ve got one big, bittersweet piece of history to pass on.

Our iconic Bunny—the original, undisputed king of Obar photos—is looking for a new home.

He’s seen the best nights of our lives, survived endless hugs, and become a genuine symbol of Hobart nightlife. It’s sad to see the chapter close, but you can literally keep the memory alive by putting him in your home bar, business, or collection.

This Saturday and next Saturday will be Observatory Bar’s final weekend. No John Farnham comebacks here—as much as Ben from Farmer TV predicted it, this is actually us letting you know it’s time.

Post Street Social will be open this Saturday, and then trading Thursday through Saturday with $8 Pints and $8 Wines all day (please always drink responsibly).

We’ve got DJs lined up for both this Saturday and next Saturday so you can get in your final dances, memories, and shenanigans. We truly hope to see you all on the dance floor for one last run.

Look, we know the rumours have been flying faster than a rogue drink tray. Last week, the news broke that we were technically in voluntary administration, the doors were locked, and everyone thought the legendary bunny had officially seen its final weekend.

But like an absolute phoenix rising from the ashes of corporate restructuring, WE ARE BACK THIS SATURDAY. Are we fully saved? Is this a permanent miracle? Honestly, we don't know. This could very well be the final, ultimate, historic send-off before the paperwork catches up with us. If this is going to be the last time you ever drop it low on the biggest, most iconic dance floor in Hobart, you owe it to history to make it count.

No more staying home. No more "saving cash for next weekend." There might not be a next weekend. Come help us drink the bar dry, pay your respects to the legendary bunny, and party like the administrators are footing the bill.

The sound system is dialled up, the drinks are cheap, and the stakes have never been higher. If you're not on the d floor this Saturday, you're missing a piece of Hobart club history.

As you may have seen in recent news updates, Pub Banc Group and Hotel Banc Group have made the incredibly difficult decision to enter voluntary administration, resulting in the immediate closure of all our venues.

We are deeply sorry to inform you that, effective immediately, we are unable to host any upcoming reservations, private functions, or scheduled events.
We understand the massive impact this has on your plans—especially for those who have trusted us with milestone celebrations, weddings, and corporate gatherings. Please know that this situation is entirely beyond our control, and we are devastated to be delivering this news to you so abruptly.

What happens next:

The business is now under the direction of appointed administrators from Apex Advisory, who are assessing the group’s operations.

We are currently working to clarify the exact process for pre-paid bookings, function deposits, and event cancellations. As soon as the administrators provide the official guidelines and contact pathways for customer claims, we will share that information directly.

If you have an immediate inquiry regarding a booking, please look out for further updates on our channels, as we will share the dedicated administrator contact details the moment they are finalised.
