What is Hazy Boi?
Hazy Boi Is a Pale Ale that, at 5.6% Abv sits at the cusp of how high a Pale Ale normally is and how low an IPA normally can be. It’s essentially a Double Dry Hopped Oat Cream Pale. Meaning we blend up a couple of large buckets of fresh Oatcream that gets mashed with the other grains, this helps add haze, creamy mouthfeel and foam stability, then it gets a big dose of 2 different hops in the whirlpool after the boil, once the yeast is chewing it’s head off, we then add a big dose of hops for flavour and aroma. As the yeast settles down towards the end of fermentation, we add a second large dose of hops. At the end of fermentation, we start chilling the beer down slowly - 2 Degrees per day. About 3 weeks later, the beer is ready for canning and Kegging.
Video is from this morning’s batch of Hazy Boi, destined for the Canning line and to give a few kegs to keep things fresh across the bar.
